I watched it recently, and I was amazed at how great of a movie it was. It really exposed me to the life of people who live in the Indian slums. Even though it was a bit cliche, it still was pretty good.

I didn't like the look of it. The advert made it look far too happy and joyous...I don't usually like those kind of films. Heartless bastard FTW!
But did you go and watch it?

You won't know what it's like until you've watched it, besides, you've seen at least one of Boyle's other movies right?

As a rule, you should never, ever make any decision on the grounds of trailers. That's for a multiplicity of reasons, but one of them is that marketing departments tend to screw up in terms of conveying what a movie is about. When planning marketing for a film and making a trailer, they'll wonder: 'So what is the selling point of this thing', and once they've found out THEIR selling point, they streamline all marketing activities, including trailers, to convey that EXACT point. Which would be OK, were it not that they often get it wrong, or that they think the ACTUAL point of the film won't sell, so they kind of make up something.

As an example, the marketing campaign for 'The Wrestler' in Germany focused heavily on it being a film for and about tough manly man. It featured competitions where you could win wrestling workshops and stuff like that. It all camed down to the complete and utter misconception that you could only get the juvenile and stupid WWF trading card demographic to watch this film.

I always find movies that win best picture are usually over rated, and that far better movies were cheated, but I can honestly say Slumdog millionaire was a fantastic movie and deserved the credit it got. Go rent it.
I've also found that movies that win the best picture have little to no standing when it comes to multiple viewings.
True, but this is one of these ultimate feel-good movies. I saw it before the oscars and it is one of these films similar to The Shawshank Redemption, where you see it and you just come out feeling alot better after seeing. I would definately recommend it. Also, if you're into movies from other countries, another I would recommend is Pan's Labyrinth.

Okay then. Danny Boyle's films are:

Shallow Grave
Trainspotting
A life less ordinary
The Beach
28 Days Later
Millions
28 Weeks Later (as producer)
Sunshine
Slumdog Millionaire

You have to have seen at least one of those films, you're missing out if you haven't.

From what I've heard, it's some sort of inspirational movie that trys to make you feel good by saying that you can get out of any terrible situation if absolutely everything works in your favor. To me, it sounds terrible, but only if you think about it. If your the kind of person that says that anyone who dies is automatically a hero, then you would like it.

Yeah seen 28 weeks later and Sunshine. I quite liked 28 weeks later as it was a half decent horror film (which seems to be very rare at the mo) but Sunshine made no sense whatsoever. There was a webcomic that summed it up perfectly but I can't remember its name. Trainspotting is meant to be a classic so ill have to check that out soon.
