Well i went on a paint ball war thing, we camped in the bush and acted like army soldiers, i did sort of the same as Superior Mind, they shot and woke us up every 10 minutes, i was up for 3 days straight, then i was about to go 2 sleep when one of those fuckers fired again, i went. "OH MY GOD YOU FUCKING ****" i got out of bed, grabbed the paint ball gun and assaulted some dude, the problem was he didn't have his clothes on so i shot him in the face 3 times from 400 meters off and gave him: a black eye, and he lost a tooth. i didn't care i was pissed off at them, but after the kid was bleeding and crying they ran away.

Funny thing is i asked if we could do it this year and the kid screamed no and ran down the street.

Just recently, I had an allergic reaction to some biscuits that I decided to try out. I ended up staying up all night covered in rashes and struggling to breathe. Stupidly enough I decided to go to school the next day because I didn't feel too tired. Got home and slept till the next morning. 33 hours if my counting is right.

Roughly 72 hours. Twice. Once for an army thing. Once because I had a pile of assignments due on the same day.

Niether was much fun.

Any who claim to not being able to sleep for more than 72 hours is full of ****. People choose to do such silly things, and if they claim otherwise, they are just fooling themselves.
What about those with insomnia?
Are they full of shit?

OT: About a day, tops. I have tried to stay up longer but my body has always gone 'Fuck it, you're sleeping now, mister.' and has always cut me down

The instruction booklet on my old copy of FF7 said "you need" a memory card to finish the game. I took this as a challenge and stayed awake for about 33-35 hours to complete the game in one run. I tell ya, by the 24 hour mark coffee and red bull was having no effect and I had to keep standing up and walking around my room to stay awake. Was alot harder than I thought it'd be.
immediately after finishing the game I conked out :p

Erm, as I said, I went without sleep for almost 5 days, due to severe insomnia. I'm pretty sure that I'm not full of ****, as you say.
You are full of something that is not healthy if you refused to sleep for 5 days.

My point is that even if you don't sleep, you can rest for 5 hours and be able to continue on to working a full day.
Insomnia is a symptom, not a stand-alone diagnosis or a disease. By definition, insomnia is "difficulty initiating or maintaining sleep, or both" and it may be due to inadequate quality or quantity of sleep. Insomnia is not defined by a specific number of hours of sleep that one gets, since individuals vary widely in their sleep needs and practices. Although most of us know what insomnia is and how we feel and perform after one or more sleepless nights, few seek medical advice. Many people remain unaware of the behavioral and medical options available to treat insomnia.

It is not a refusal to sleep, I suffer from Insomnia from time to time and even when you try to sleep, you are inevitably awake every couple of hours or so.

I never stayed awake for more than 36 hours, though those 36 are becoming alarmingly regular in my schedule. It's when I have to complete a project or a report, I usually procrastinate until the last minute and I don't sleep the night right before it's due. So that makes it from morning till dusk till morning till dusk, because I usually find something else to do instead of going to sleep after I finish :p
