i know it was more than 100 hours, cant recall (nor do i want to) exactly how long it was. it was when i was stationed in kuwait during shock and awe, jets taking off and landing nonstop 24 hrs a day, 12 hr on/off guard shifts and having to work on patriot launchers and deal with missle alerts that put us in bunkers for hours on end in between, i lived on xenadrine and red bull, (on the wacky side of things i was relieved of guard duty until i got some rest at the end of it all when i freaked out and pulled my weapon on my guard relief because reality was doing some wierd things in my mind)

I was once terribly depressed and couldn't sleep for about 3 days(maybe 3 and a half). What was weird is I never felt tired.

for me, I stayed up for 28 hours, then I just fell asleep on my bedroom floor because I couldn't make it to my bed.

You are full of something that is not healthy if you refused to sleep for 5 days.

My point is that even if you don't sleep, you can rest for 5 hours and be able to continue on to working a full day.
I didn't refuse to sleep at all, I couldn't sleep, even if I wanted to. That's what insomnia is. I haven't heard of anyone outright refusing to sleep for 5 days, unless it was for an experiment or something. I would have loved to sleep, but I couldn't.
It is easy to say you didn't sleep for x amount of days....

My point is that if you rest for 5-6 hours, you can get the equivalent of sleep.

If you lay in a bed and do nothing, and control your thoughts enough to not twitch, you can get enough of the rest you need to live a productive life. It is possible to not sleep and allow your body enough rest to work the next day.
rest isnt enough, it will work for a while, but the body needs sleep in order to do some things. They just cant be done when the mind is conscious, like healing all the little damage that your body takes during the day.

About five or six days, from a mixture of insomnia and WoW (mostly the latter). I got practically no rest, and absolutely no sleep. By the end of it, I was hallucinating badly, and was one step away from being a complete lunatic.

Anyone who says they easily stayed up for four days, and says they weren't a mental and physical wreck is lying.

Do you have ANY IDEA how hard it is for someone with insomnia to just lay in bed for 6 six hours straight!?!?!
Yes. If you rest for 6 hours you can have enough energy to live a close to normal next day too.

I hope you don't think I am making fun of those who can't, I stated how and why you can get over your lack of "rest".

If you are saying you can't control yourself for 6 hours a day, then I can see why you might not be able to function. I stated why already. In all seriousness you need less than 6 hours per day. Those who refuse to rest should be properly medicated/seek professional help.

It isn't cool to not be able to control yourself enough to rest for 1/4 of a day. If you fail at such a simple thing, then you really need to seek outside help. If you try to rest for x amount of hours x amount of days, and still fail to sleep/rest, you have a serious problem that may require medication and or therapy. This is not an insult, just some solid no nonsense advice.
that is clearly an insult -.-

anyways, i don't have insomnia and i sleep just fine.
but to lay down for six hours while having such mental stress and not being able to actually fall asleep seems kinda hard(also very annoying)
