It depends on the game to be honest. Most Bioware games would take me roughly 5 days, if I'm playing it solid maybe less. If it's some generic FPS probably about 7 hours, if that. If it's some open world game like Oblivion or Fallout then it can take me weeks because I'll get sidetracked with all the exploration you can do.

uh...could you limit this to a type of game or a genre?

Flash game - 10min
Old atari game - Until the end of time
Other games - somewhere in-between

Well, non-open sandbox games is usually 2-4. No game is that long now in days.

Also, define 'complete' as in Do EVERYTHING or beat the story. Because if its the second, then its usually within 4 days.

Usually their huge games, plus, its "efficiency."

This really depends on the game. I can be completely addicted one week and not play it at all the other. I finished portal in about a weekend, though I haven't finished anything from Mass Effect to Bit.Trip Runner, in-game time only counts I suppose, so around a week depending on the length of the game.

With most games it'll probably take over a year :/ I very rarely play a game through to the end, and I have plenty of unfinished games that I've had for over a year,

If it;s just the story 8-12 hours. Sometimes that goes to 15 depending on the game. But recently I just played Heavy Rain, Deus Ex Human Revolution and currently on Mass Effect 2 which took 18, 25 and current 24 hours respectively.

Depends on how good the game is and how long I want to play it.
Have some games that are so good that i milk it all the way through and hasn´t completed yet (BG2 and Last Remnant), then there are games thats just so dull that I don´t finish them (Just cause 2, Risen, Gothic 4).

The main story in most games I finish in about 3-4 days if I only concentrate on it.

I chose 2-4 days . Not real time of course . Last game i played was , deadspace 2 . Nice fun 10 hour game that took me 3 days to finish ( with work and and girlfriend taking up some of my time through out the days ) t . My first play through was on survivalist mode( a notch above normal ) because i was looking for a challenge , had i started on normal would have probably took 2 days . Although i could have beat it in one day , ( if i ignored by gf lol ) i prefer to pace myself a bit. I dislike finishing a game in one day ( especially if i play it the day i bought it). But on average it takes me 3 days foe anythig that isn't a jrpg .

Now for jrpgs it takes me about 7-14 days depending on if i feel like doing sidequest and if i need to grind . FF13 took me about 10 days to finish because it's a pretty long ( though linear ) game . I didn't grind much but i did spent alot of time retrying half hour long bosses , so yeah that ate up alot of my time.

It really depends on what kind of game it is:

FPS - 1-2 days (usually start and finish in a weekend)
RPG - 2-3 weeks (this includes sandbox games, 'cos I like XP grinding)
RTS - 7-10 days (typically only a couple missions at a time because I need to restart a lot of them because of *RAGE*)
TW - 2-4 weeks (depending which one it is, I'll amend difficulty settings and go mad and not sleep, and fight every damned battle)

By in-game time or real time? Most games take me anywhere from 40 to 60 hours, but I don't spend every waking minute playing games so it can take me weeks. Especially if I get distracted and buy a different shiny new title.

u can't really finish RPGs in a day...
Depends on the RPG.

They class Dungeon Seige 3 as an RPG and that took me 8 hours including side quests ... the game really is that small.

For most games it takes me a couple of days.

Some it takes me longer if they are shit but really want to finish them. I only play a couple of hours then come back to it when I can be bothered or have nothing else to do.

A day and a half to two days is the norm. RPGs are the exception to this trend, they take around a week since I can't resist exploring.

It takes almost two weeks for me (or even a month) to complete a game. I don't play as often as I used to, and when I do (it's XX--stay thirsty, my friend) it's usually multiplayer on Halo Reach.

1 day, usually. When I want to sit down with a game, I sit down with a game, and finish it.

Depends on the game and the time i get it. but usually
If i get it during the middle of the week it might take me a like four days
If i get it during the weekend it might take me just 2 days.
This is why i dont buy games i dont know whether i will like new.
It also depends wheter im with a friend because i dont want to play it without them if i started.

With work and school (plus other responsibilities) it generally don't have a lot of spare time to devote to my video games.

On average, I could complete most video games in about 2 weeks. If they are more difficult or challenging, it would take me about a month. For RPGs, especially ones that offer many meaningful (but challenging) side-quests, it could take me a few months to a year (playing it on-and-off).

An SRPG...Well, let's just say I have yet to complete an SRPG within the same year that I bought it.
