Recently in my forensics class, my teacher handed out a sheet that had listed the most common characteristics of a serial killer. Everyone in class read it over and saw how much they had in common with a serial killer. I had the most in common out of the entire class.
Serial killers tend to share the following general characteristics:
1. The majority are single, white males. (Yes)
2. They are often intelligent, with IQs in the "bright normal" range. (Yes...but I was in a higher range...)
3. Despite their high IQs, they do poorly in school, have trouble holding down jobs, and often work menial jobs. (I did well but I'm not sure how I managed to...I never really payed attention or did work...)
4. They tend to come from unstable families. (parents got married when I was 2 and got divorced four months later and they were both alcoholics...so yes?)
5. As children, they are typically abandoned by their fathers and raised by domineering mothers. (My dad had limited visitation rights so...sorta?)
6. Their families often have criminal, psychiatric and alcoholic histories. (yes)
7. They often are mistrustful of their parents. (Just my mom)
8. It is common to find that as children, they were abused?psychologically, physically and/or sexually?by a family member. (no. =D)
9. Many spend time in institutions as children and have records of early psychiatric problems. (no)
10. They have high rates of suicide attempts. (I tried once...)
11. From an early age, many are intensely interested in voyeurism, fetishism, and sadomasochistic pornography. (yes >_>)
12. More than 60 percent wet their beds beyond the age of 12. (I don't remember ever wetting the bed =D)
13. Many are fascinated with fire starting. (yes)
14. They are involved in sadistic activity or torturing small animals. (I'd never torture an animal but some of my friends credit me with ruining their lives...so yes?)
So, how many do you share with one? I share the most out of everyone in my family with ten.
