I'm lucky enough to only have one console failure. It was my 360, last spring. The only other "console dying" situations I can think of that I've had would be my computer getting a fatal virus. Oh all the porn... it has so many repercussions.

One original Xbox died a slow death on me - it had one of the friggin' Thompson piece o' crap drives in it. I'm hoping my 360 will last a while now that I have so many games for it. I'd HAVE to go buy another one.

My SNES died after misuse ( I put gravel in it, I was young) and my first PS3 loved one of my discs so much it wouldn't give it back, but Sony were happy to send me a new one. My PS1 and PS2 I gave away to my siblings and are both going strong.

My PS2 is dying but not dead, in that it can still play about half my games for it, just no DVDs. I have never had any issues with any of my other consoles though.

PS2 died after 6 years.. ;__;

My 360.. first time was my fault knocking it over >_< and second time was the rrod.. really random too, I hadnt played it for a week and then boom the 3 red lights popped on =/

Microsoft fixed it within 2 weeks on both occasions for free too.. so you know.. cant really complain.. xD

But *drum roll* I am still on my 1st 360, its 2 and a half years old and its a trooper! though now its probably going to implode when i turn it on later

Mine is on it's last legs, it crashed again about 5 minutes ago *sad face*
I don't know if I'll be able to replace my beloved '64 when it goes, hopefully someone has an unwanted one in good condition somewhere.

My original PS2 had a similar problem, it refused CDs 100% but would play DVDs, which makes little sense but it's how it "worked" .

Wow that's really backwards, though I'm guessing the gameboys took some abuse since their handhelds. And I really hope your 360 doesn't, I don't wish that crap on anyone.

The disc drive on my Wii went kaput just last month.

To the authorized Nintendo Service Center's credit, it was in the mail on a Monday, and I had it back the following Thursday.

Not a single console has died on me. Even my NES, which is inexplicably missing its top (who knows why, or even when, I removed it) runs fine, with the usual blowing-in-the-cartridge.

Who invented that fix, anyway? Or is it just the intuitive thing to do, like flapping around a fresh Polaroid even though it doesn't actually help the photo develop?
