So I was chillin in the thread that is encouraging everyone to leave en mass (Am I even allowed in there? Probably not... :D) and came across an interesting post.

I don't get this. Do some people only ever go to one forum at a time or something? I go to dozens of forums. I don't just go to one and stay there until something happens and then find a new one like it's a house or something. You can still go to other forums that you enjoy more while simultaneously coming here as well. This notion is baffling in general.
I found it baffling that people would go to multiple forums. So, as a man of science, I determined that there was only one way to settle this...

After Trial by Combat was rejected, I went with option #2, which is a poll to see what other people thought.

Now when I say regularly visit, I don't just mean that you have an account that you haven't used since W was in office (for example, I have a Cracked.com account but I have never posted in the forum and only once in a blue moon post in the comments section so I don't count Cracked as a forum for this question) but a place that you feel like you are a member of the community and actively participate in. Ultimately, I'll let you be the judge of what exactly that means but to me, it would be something you visit at least a few times a week and post in at least once every few weeks or so).

As I've alluded to in that thread, this is the only forum that I o to and would likely be the last one I ever go to if it were to go down. I like having just one place that I call Internet Home and have no real desire to bounce around.

So how many forums do you frequent? Are you in a monogamous relationship with The Escapist or are you the internet bicycle where every forum gets a ride? :D

My record is 2 different forums, but that's when I had lots of free time. It's just the escapist now. Never felt like I was part of the community here, and never got a warning. I feel like I deserved a warning or 2 over the years but I never got one, and that's annoying. This is the first forum where my warning history is 100% clean.

Just the Escapist. Sometimes I'll read some threads on a random forum when I'm looking for answers, but I don't ever make an account.

I waste enough time on one forum without keeping up with multiple.

Just one other - the forums all to do with GameMaker, which is the video game engine I'm using. I visit it pretty much as frequently as this but don't post as often. It's hard to recommend as like 99% of topics is about video game development, and most of them only applies to the game engine.

There's a massive advantage that forum have over this one - you can "like" posts! :p

Right now or...? Because for me it varies. Right now, it's three. Well, I guess if you count a subreddit as a forum. But I've been part of many more at a time - it could be as few as two-ish or it could be as much as six-ish.

Usually one at a time. First forum I remember visiting frequently was a Sonic Anime site, then Rooster Teeth, then StarCraft Legacy, now here.

Never received the invite for that trial by combat. I'll take you on Blazblue or Guilty Gear any time! :D

(5 forums atm, various Gfaqs boards which I count as one, myanimelist, Dustloop.com, here and Xseed's boards, there used to be a few more in there)

The Escapist (since 2012) and Giant in the Playground (since 2014).

Amusing point: Everyone who whines about the Escapist being tyrannical when it comes to moderation should take a gander at GitP's forum rules: Trust me when I say that GitP is to the Escapist is as the Escapist is to 4chan.

Rules? Strict rules? You don't know moderation until you step into the Giant's playground!!!

Moreover--GitP is growing! GROWING!!! And that's with the rules that have been in place since before the Escapist was a blip on the Internet!

Heh-heh-heh!!!

EDIT: Hey, Tippy! Did you know that your fellow Escapist Moderators can change other poster's thread Poll choices? Including yours?!?

I didn't until now when I went to edit a misspelling and found your "Oh-so-innocent" poll sitting entirely vulnerable before me! Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!!

Just this one.

I like to settle into a forum to the point where I recognize many of the people there and have some idea of their views. Which takes time, so I only 'invest' in one forum at a time.

Just here.
I can only afford to be a passive user to 1 forum at a time. Anything more than that is bit too much for me to handle.

Just this one.

I never really felt the need to go anywhere else. This place seems to encompass my interests pretty nicely overall and I "know" people here.

I'd say this is the only general forum I visit and actively post in. I also go to Giant in the Playground purely for a couple of RP threads I'm in, and a couple of niche genetics / genealogy forums, but you won't find the sort of discussion you get here there.

I visit some gamefaqs boards of certain games I am engaged in.

Also tend to read some Disqus comment threads on certain news websites, sorry to the people providing news on here, but you're not fulfilling my needs.

One (this site) I think? I mean do Gamefaq count as a forum but I only go there to comment on specific games I've been playing like eg Fire Emblem Heroes.

Well there also Diqus and wikia but I only make a comment or reply to someone on a game guide or episode and the people on fandom wikia are bunch of senstive crybabies well the one that I visit.

Granted I have been to other forums in the past but again it was gaming related forum like Guild Wars and Phantasy Star which I lose interest when I stop playing those games (also it doesn't help those people in those forum were boring as hell when it come to non gaming discussion).

Also to whoever quoted on the OP, I have yet to encounter a similar site to this one. Every other forums I encounter were badly layout (Snafu), had poorly moderated needless trivial stuff like "signature" or have fun or interesting topic worth commenting (well ok that is a rare gem to have these days).

The only other one I visit is Cool Ghosts, though that one is still finding its feet. Almost all the forum time I spend, I spend here.

Just two: The Escapist (since 2009) for games discussion and generally hanging out, and Giant In The Playground (since 2016) for D&D inspiration, information and questions.

I used to frequent more forums, mostly hobby-related, but they either went under or I lost interest in the hobby and by extension that forum. Or both.

1) The Escapist
This is the least visited forum but also the most useful forum. My other forums are for niche games that I play regularly. The reason this is my least visited forum is because there's nothing on the website I enjoy. The last show I regularly watched on The Escapist was the Science and Tech podcasts last year but those came to an end.

2) Blizzard Official Hearthstone Forums
This is purely out of sheer entertainment. I'm a fan of HS and I'm fully aware that Blizzard forums are completely toxic. There's something fun about being reasonable in a place that's completely unreasonable.

3) The Elder Scrolls Legends Reddit Forums
This is my favorite free to play CCG. I play Hearthstone casually and this one a bit more seriously. Likewise I treat the reddit forums as an educational platform. A place to learn about the games meta, what decks work and a place to ask questions. I'm mostly a lurker here.

4) Marvel Puzzle Quest Forums
This is my main game and has been for over 3 years now. Naturally I've made it a regular habit to visit the official forums. I used to be a lot more active over there posting almost daily but these days I'm a daily lurker posting maybe 3 times a month on select issues I deem to be important. Admittedly I'm part of a LINE community for this game so I socialize with its players each and every day. The forums come up as a part of that community so I visit it to help stay in the loop as it were.

Just this one for now. I tried to branch out a few times, but the others I've checked weren't as discussion-prone as this one tends to be. Some of them were more civil, but I always found them uninterested in having a discussion about anything. They just wanted to post their opinions Twitter-style and disappear.
