I thought mass effect 3 was one of the greatest games of all time but I don't understand my ending. I think I turned everyone into cyborgs and the Normandy's crew crashed on a unknown planet. Anyone care to explain it to me?

The fact that you have to play multiplayer in order to get the "good" ending. I know people say this isn't true, but I have yet to see proof that 8,000 military strength is obtainable.
You don't need 8000. You only need 6000ish (a full green bar if you're at 50% Readiness).

It's perfectly doable within the SP, the multiplayer just allows you to get there faster.
When I beat it I had between 6700 and 6800 (so ~3350 with 50% readiness) and I didn't get the "waking up in the rubble" ending. From what I have read, you need 4000 effective military strength in order to get it (as long as you successfully persuade the Illusive Man, if you don't persuade him you need 5000 effective).

I exhaustively completed every single side quest. I did certainly miss out on a few hundred points (no Kasumi, no Kirrahe, no From Ashes, failed to make peace between the Geth and Quarians), but according to numbers taken from the Wiki those things would only give me 675 more military strength (338 effective), leaving me at least 212 effective strength away from 4000.

I am almost certain that I didn't miss any other assets from ME1 (saved the rachni queen, etc.) and I am completely certain that I didn't miss any other assets from ME2.

Best game of the series. I'm discounting those last ten minutes, but it was everything and more I expected from the end game of a trilogy.

I don't think I've ever cried so much...

Not every choice lets Shepard live if you have the required assets. It depends on what you do with the Illusive Man and which color explosion you choose.

There's an IGN article about it somewhere.

I haven't played it yet...waiting for the mega-sales to start showing up then I might grab it. I don't believe EAware deserves full price for it so I'll get it down the road a bit once it's cheap.

I really enjoyed it. Not only was the combat fun and exciting but all of the characters were great and there was a lot of amazing emotional moments for me.

And I don't have a problem with the endings, but rather the conclusion. After the choice is made, you see nothing about what happens to your army, you squadmates, your friends, the Reapers (unless you destroy them) or the universe. I want to know what my partner did now Shepards gone, what happens after curing the Krogan, did Wrex name his firstborn Mordin. Hopefully Bioware plans to continue either in another game or DLC to tie up these loose ends and give us some closure.

I loved the game! I thought Tuchanka, Thessia, and Rannock was really well done! I was moved so many times throughout the game! After Thessia I felt bad for Shephard for the first time in the series. It was the first time I didn't think of him as an extension of myself but as a character of his own. I found being able to feel that was brilliant!

The characerisation was superb! I even ended up liking Kaiden! The bromance with Garrus, and Wrex as a whole was hilarious!
What did annoy me was Liara. I continued my relationship with her but she had the least amount of dialogue scenes on the ship & citadel compared to anyone else.
I bought the From Ashes DLC and all the way though playing it I thought why Jaavik wasn't put into the game from the start. He's a great character & you find out alot about the Protheans and Reapers. I found him more of an integral part of the game then Bioware made him out to be.

All the way through then edn sequence I enjoyed, even going up onto the citadel & talking to the Illusive Man was engaging. But as soon as you get elevated and talk with the glowing child and had to make one of the choices did it all go down hill! Especially as the final cutscenes contradict what the child says! Not to mention the ridiculous plot holes, and confusing scenes. To me it felt like such a cop-out on Bioware's part. I felt so dissapointed! Still do! What makes it worse is that there is no closure. all these charactrers you've grown to know and love and...nothing! Out of any game I have played this game needed an epilogue!

I think what hurts the most is that the ending pretty much makes every decision you've made up until this point was pointless! It didn't matter. Whatever you do its all going to be the same! All the choices you make & what has given the series its reputaion is taken away & you're given pretty much a stock ending! 98% of all the endings are same bar a couple of seconds of difference.

I can't look at it as a whole because until the very last 10 minutes it was a great game with so many amazing moments. That only makes the ending so much more depressive. I want to want to start a new playthrough, but I just can't. I get to the import save screen and I just give up. I've lost all will to play ME. That shouldn't happen in Mass Effect. I was supposed to love this game forever and have at least 6 playthroughs with different classes.
exactly.

i had so many frickin imports i wanted to try out and see through the end...but now? not an OUNCE of fuck to give about mass effect, all because of that conclusion. terrible.

OT: in all honesty, most of the game is pretty damn good, but sweet jesus..."dat ending"...

I'm fully aware of this... as I said, you need 4000 effective military strength in order to survive with persuading TIM (and picking the destroy ending, obviously), and 5000 to survive without. Taken from http://www.ign.com/wikis/mass-effect-3/Endings

I thought the game was great. Not as much content as I would've liked, but I guess the multiplayer took some space on the disk. One of my only complaints, besides the ending naturally, is that the little sidequest things don't have trackers of any kind. I really wanted to help the Elcor out, but I have no clue where Dekuuna is. Dammit game, I wanted to help them! :(

Completed 2 plays of it so far using 2 unique saves from ME+ME2. Personally seeing the difference between the two is amazing the consequences of specific actions is defiantly awesome to see.
Example:
In ME2 if you keep Maelons data it allows the Krogan female to live, if you destroyed it then she also dies along with Wix/Mordin in the shroud curing the genophage.

Loved it both times.
Combat is much tighter and enjoyable, played through as an infiltrator (loved popping guardians through the shields eye slot) and a vanguard (biotic charge then a biotic punch to the face is so much fun).
The story ties in a lot of little things from both ME and ME2 in both major and minor ways even the colonists from Zhus Hope make a note in the war effort.
Emotionally this game kicked me in the nuts, Thane especially, that scene actually had me shedding man tears and Grunts big scene had me cheering. Never has a game been so emotionally charged for me.
I liked the little details a lot if you paid attention to them, the asari in the hospital recounting her traumatic story, the young girl in the holding docks talking to the turian about waiting for her parent to come meet her and quite a few more in various areas made everything feel more involved as bit by bit you hear these stories unfold around you.

Overall a fantastic game easily sitting up in my best 5 games played.

Yes the ending is a let down and given the "best" endings little addition I tend to subscribe to the indoctrination/dream theory as a lot of things didn't make sense and the final 5-10 minutes feel so disconnected from the rest of the game. The cynic in me subscribes to the bioware ran out of time/money and had to mash something together so there even was an ending theory.

Ok, so i've been lurking around these forums for a while and figured hey, why not actually start posting and what not.

Ok now back to the topic, Mass effect 3 i voted as good, the game play up until the last few moments was nothing short of the best i've seen so far in the series. (I've loved mass effect since the release date on my old white xbox, god bless its red ringed soul.) Then as we all know, and most have come to hate, the ABC fisher price colour colded endings.

I wont go off on one about them, as well there have been quite a few threads of many others ripping it a new one. So anyway to the point, they pull the game down from a brilliant experience to a good one.
