Poll: How many is a few?

Other: Two is a couple, twelve is a dozen so three to eleven is a few.

I've always used it to mean "more than a couple, less than half a dozen". That's just my take on it though, it's still pretty much the couple/dozen thing.

Few is 3 or 4. But a FAIR few is anything from 4 to 11. That;s a rule of mine.

I would say a few mintures if I meant 10 at most but we can chock that up to time OCD.

Several does not start at 4. If there were four chocolates in a box I would not say that there were several.

I would. Weird how things that can be so clear cut in your own head are really abstract when it comes to a group idea.

Depends on what were talking about. VERY RELEVANT when speaking of things that can be numbered in the gajillions. Like the number of atoms in the universe. Or a much smaller number, the number of people in the world. It depends on what you are proportioning it to.

In the movie "A few good men" it took two marines to kill Santiago, one officer to order it, and one to stand by and do nothing. So it could very well be 4.

And think about this...

When you're having beers, or bourbon or whatever it may be. It goes like this.
"Oh, I just had one."
"Oh, I just had a couple."
"Yeah, I had a few..."
"I had a bloody case ehy!"
"Uhhh... I just had a couple?"

Just from that, it could either be, 3-5, or 3-11 depending if it's a 6 or 12 pack.
