Three. Well, depends on "fluent". My Hebrew could use a good deal of improvement. Horribly difficult language, that.

Meanwhile, I'm a Japanese to English translator, so that certainly counts.

I'd like to think these three count for a bit more than three European languages, given how similar those tend to be, but odds are I'm deluding myself.

English and Estonian, I used to understand German pretty well too, not any more though.
Dude, me too.

Though I can speak a wee bit of German (though my proficiency at it is dismal), and a wee bit (though even less) of Russian.
*Kõrge viis*

Yeah it really doesn't sound very good in Estonian.
I can speak a wee bit of Russian myself. The only sentence I can properly say is "I'm sorry I was late for class" though ^.^.
I should be able to speak way more than that, I take Russian as an optional class. But I'm so incredibly bad at it since I missed out on most of the basics.

Great to see a fellow Estonian on The Escapist, hope you'll have a happy independence day tomorrow. ^.^

2 and a half.
Swedish and English.
I understand Japanese and can kinda speak it, but it's nowhere near fluent.
I also can't read more than maybe 20 kanji.

I used to be fairly competent in German and Finnish, but I've forgotten most of what I used to know by now.

Can only speak Swedish and English fluently.
Know some Spanish though, but just enough to understand it a bit. Spent four years learning it and pretty much all I can remember is "Donde esta de la panaderia?". -_O

Finnish and English.

And the same two in a slurring manner if I'm drunk.

*C-3PO voice* I am fluent in more than three million forms of communication and... *KA-BRICKED and now speaking normally* OW! Okay...sorry!

Fluent in English only, but I know a bit of Spanish. Not enough to be fluent, enough to be somewhat conversational.

Just English at the moment. I am learning French though, and I hope to become fluent.

English is my mother tongue, and I do know a bit of German, but it's gone very rusty in just 2 years.

English, Dutch and Russian...although my Russian has gradually become rather rusty over the past 10 years. Shame on me....it's my native language.

I can speak some German and French as well...but definitely not fluently.

English.

And Sarcasm.
Dammit, I was going to say that!

Like most of my fellow Americans, English is the only language (other than sarcasm) that I can speak and understand with true fluency. However, I can speak German well enough to get by. And yes, I do know how to say things other than "Wo ist die amerikanische Botschaft?" (Where is the American Embassy?)

"Mein Kopf hat gepupst," for example, and "Mein Fallschirm ist kaputt." These are important things to know how to express to others.

I've tried learning Spanish and French as well, but I like German because A. its structure is incredibly similar to English, so it's easy to learn; B. because it's hilarious how people who don't understand it always think I'm angry at them when I speak to them when I'm only asking if I can use the restroom, and C. because I'm of German descent.
