I tried watching one today for the first time. Gave up before half way through, explaining the entomology of "damsel in distress"? Really? There seems to be an awful lot of filler and if I had to guess why I would hazard that it's because there isn't that much to say.

I would love this series if it was either A- About TV, B- 5 minutes long or C- Funny.

Watched all the videogames videos, and a few of her older ones. Always found them interesting, and given me things to think about (and changed my opinion on a moment in a game I had found moving, but became uncomfortable when it turns out a tone iof games were doing pretty much the exact same thing)

I've watched all of the Feminist Frequency videos made to date. A lot of them I have seen more than once. In general, they are a bit dry, but well reasoned and researched. My biggest criticism is, sometimes, she overreaches.

In "women as background decoration" it's hard to draw the line between "world building" and exploitation. Although, it's painfully obvious that Triple A games are made for what game dev's think 14 year old straight boys want. In almost all her Video game trope videos, Triple A does it wrong, independent game does it right.

A bit off topic, but since her last video was more about rape... I was raped. It's a sensitive topic, and even the best writers, directors, actors, etc. can mess it up. I'm not even sure of the best way to handle it in a narrative, but "Law and Order: SVU" seems to be the best example. From the beginning, they showed more care and insight, than any other show, and certainly any game. Just throwing rape into a scene doesn't make it more "mature". Context is everything.

I made a point to check some of them out a while back, when I began to see more and more of her name here at the Escapist.

I thought she had some points, but missed/mangled others completely, and ultimately decided I didn't care for her work. Although sexism in games is worth considering, and they should be subject to critique, and diversity in games is a worthwhile direction for the industry to move for other people's sakes, personally I rather like knights rescuing princesses in my escapism.

I would never wish ill on her, nor use my opinion of her to group/judge all feminists.

I watched them all. I thought she had some valid points. Since she always states that she is just taking parts of games and doesn't condemn them in their entirety but just pointing out that they have some flawed views on women I never felt threatened by her, my gaming didn't feel threatened or misused or misinterpreted or anything extremely negative which I read about so frequently. I surely don't agree with aggressive J.Butler-like gender theory stuff but I like what Anita Sarkeesian is doing. Not all of it, but most of it. And everyone who doesn't like it may speak out against what she is doing in the moderate ways we would call a "culture of discussion". It is not that hard.

(Perhaps it is just some kind of composure but I never left a single one of my LoL games prematurely either and there have been enough reasons. I am not easily enraged.)
