God no. I haven't even got the remotest interest in sports.
Same here. I don't see what the big deal is.

You kick around a ball for fun, I shoot people in a virtual world. Who wins?
Well it's sure not the Jocks who find out that the gamers have taken shooting from the virtual world into the real world.

I used to play football when i was in high school. Not for my high school however for my city.

I actually enjoy basketball, hockey and baseball but only when i am just screwing around with my friends.

Then there was the times we used to play "soccer" at school. Pretty much the game was played with four soccer balls. As many teams as people want to create, and the goal was to be the team with the majority of the game balls at the end of the lunch break. You could carry the ball all you want and you could push, tackle and struggle the ball away from you opponents. The teachers eventually got sick of trying to stop us (Half the school played it) so they said we could play it as long as there was no striking(punches, elbows, slaps, pretty much any single point hits.) It was pretty awesome, the PE teachers even started to referee for us.

Goalies were the players who carried the balls.
Bouncers blocked for the goalies.
Assholes tackled the goalies. Named thusly because that's usually what the goalie would shout as he got knocked over.

Sorry for the nostalgia rant...

I play soccer, and I used to wrestle until the tendons in my knee decided they wanted to go ahead and develop Osgood-Schlatter's disease. Deuchebags.

I play a bit of Rugby every now and then. I don't really have that many commitments as a student so I still have plenty of (or too much) time to peruse the internet. Also I did a marathon last weekend so I guess I'm fairly healthy too.

In the past, I practiced Karate and Swimming, and the latter was competitive. Currently, I play squash on weekends, football at school with friends every lunch-break, and I've got P.E aswell...

I gym, but I'm not really a fan of team sports. I have played them, but I just never seemed to enjoy them.

Yeah.
I'm in, of all things, softball in college.
I needed a shitty P.E. class to get my degree, and since my dad plays, "what the fuck", I thought.
But in the summer I'll be training in Krav Maga.

I play hockey and coach youth hockey off and on. I don't know of any sport that requires a time commitment that would be incompatible with gaming. 4 or 5 hours a week at most for just about any rec sport, and typically more like 2 or 3. Plus most sports have off-seasons. I still have plenty of time for my marathon all-nighter gaming sessions and scheduled raids...

EDIT: You can of course CHOOSE to spend a lot more time than that with any given sport, but I can't think of any sports that REQUIRE more than that amount of time from you in order to participate at an equivalent level to everyone else. Except maybe cricket... that is one messed up game.

Tennis, but I do a lot of running. Don't do a lot of sports, which is strange, since I'm very competitive.

Eh, Sports payed for my college degree and a nice down payment on my house, so yeah I play. :) I still play baseball and volleyball a few times a week and assorted individual sports here and there. I love all things sports and even watched the American Football draft last night. Not everyone's cup of tea, but it's a great form of entertainment, just like video games are.

It's funny how many people consider sports and video games on the complete opposite side of the spectrum. Honestly, I don't know that many serious athletes that AREN'T gamers. Most of them are addicted to competition and on road trips or relaxing on down time between games/practices, getting together for some FPS action or Madden tournaments is pretty common.

I think most people here understand that, but in the general public people seem surprised that athletes who spend so much time training physically would entertain themselves with something where you just sit around and push buttons. It's really not all that much different.

Yup, used to do some karate, swimming and now I'm up to my 10th year of playing badminton. I now play competitively for Northamptonshire county. You know this was the topic of my very first thread. Ah, the memories. If I remember correctly it turned out that most (about 3/4) of the people who posted in my one actually played some sport.

I still play soccer, and have since I was 3 years old.

I balance playing video games and playing sports just fine, mostly because I don't have anything else to do except for those and homework.

For fun? Sure, play Soccer/Football every so often.

Organized? Not really.
