I read a lot... By choice. I read fanfiction... soley because I am too poor to keep up with how fast I read, and I've all but exhausted the local library.

Stephen King's It, about 1100 pages.
I think there's some books I've read with more pages than that, but I can't really remember.

Stephen King seems to be a very popular author on the Escapist.

If anyone has read The Realms of the Unreal by Henry Darger then I commend you. That book is over 15,000 pages. It also has over 30,000 illustrations that go along with it.
If you don't know what I'm talking about look up Darger, its pretty incredible and strange and heartbreaking.

Do the illustrations take up a lot of the book?

Isn't that an art book?

No that's 15,000 pages of writing and 30,000 pages of pictures. I'm fairly certain they never published the illustrations, but they exist. All done by Darger. As for whether its an "art book" or not, I don't know what you mean. It has a cohesive story etc. However there is not doubt that it is a work of art. It's Darger's life's work.
Its hard to explain, you should really look it up.

The only book I've ever read by him was Carrie, and I found that book hilarious.

It was basically outlining the entire troupe of Eldrich Abominations. The main characters, for instance, forget ever fighting It, simply because they could not have lived a normal life if they had not.

I read the synopsis on Wikipedia. Sounds like an odd book.

I can only say that I loved it, but then again I'm a bit biased...so, to each his own, then.

Read the report about the JFK assassination. Got done with Guns, germs and steel. Read Luther's collected works in 2 and a half years.

Giving the 9/11 report a try currently. I figure if Bush should have read it, it shouldn't be that tough, but I guess I can see where if the guys funneling me info did it right I would get confused too.

I don't hold prestige in the number of pages in a book I have read. I hold prestige in a combination of Font size and number of pages. Still can't think of the longest book I've read at the top of my head though.
