Might be able to struggle through Youtube videos at 144p or whatever the absolute shit resolution is that it likes to default to. Gifs take a while even normally. Speed is about 250kB/s at best. Australia.

Getting 58 mb/s DL and 12 mb/s UL from speedtests, so I can do whatever I want while downloading. Even with my old, awful, connection it was somewhat smooth while I was downloading.
I'm supposed to have 100/10 however, but that's where the numbers usually end up. Should I feel ripped off, or is this normal?

I did a "stress test" when I first got my fiber installed (50mb/s up and down).

This is what I did, with no performance loss:

* Downloading a game from Steam
* Donwloading a torrent
* Streaming from Netflix
* Playing Diablo 3

Fiber is pretty damn neat.
Before I got it I could not stream Netflix and play Diablo at the same time without serious lag.

Well... I can visit this website's forums...
I can look at pictures saved on my laptop...
I can listen to music off iTunes...

Uh... and that's about it... I don't have enough money per month to have "better", "faster" internet...
(Also, fuck trying to download anything after midnight, apparently...)

I have just shy of 29Mb/s download speed, so I can dowlad games without much impact on anything else I do, which is one hell of an improvement over my old DSL connect, where it was just text pages only, and it took literal DAYS for a game to download.
What service are you using that gets you 29Mbps? Did Jesus owe you a favor or something?
You can get that amount of speed from Virgin. I get about 33mbps(roughly 4MB/s) with them. Virgin at in every area though which is a bummer.

OT: I get high enough speeds that I can download games and watch Netflix while surfing the web without any issues. I remember the days when I had Sky broadband and I could barely crack 500kb/s. Those were dark days, dark days indeed.

Nothing at the moment since I'm looking after my mum's house and the connection there is arse: barely 2mbps. Usually, though, I download at around 50mbps (6MB/s roughly) with about 5 upload so I can do anything.

My internet is pretty okay, no complaints. Streaming, gaming and downloading at the same time without much trouble. My PC is usually the limit before my internet is. :S

Normally, I can do pretty much anything while downloading. Shit, I can generally download from Steam AND Origin and still have internet to spare.

Unfortunately, I've been staying at my aunt's house for the past two weeks, where I can barely watch low-quality Youtube videos by themselves, let alone download while doing anything short of Dial Up speed.

If I'm downloading something it's generally while playing World of Warcraft with Youtube, Netflix or Twitch on in the background.

I love my internet ^_^

After seeing some of the internet speeds of other Escapist users.......Im so jealous

Im downloading Just cause 2 right now on Steam and I have an average download speed of 120-130 KB/s if im lucky. Needless to say the most I can do is look at internet pages with just text and a couple of pictures on them. Videos are impossible for me, comics and GIFs also take far too long to browse those and streams are difficult for me even when im not downloading.

The hightest I scored so far here was 5 mb/s. Not bad, and the only my laptop limits me from doing when I'm downloading something is plays heavy games, like CoD Ghosts. Anything else, it can handle just fine.

If you don't mind me asking, how much do you pay per month for that? Whatever the cost it must be worth it.

I have a 6meg DSL connection that gets around 5.4
Steam is pretty much takes all of it when downloading. That means I can't really do much beyond basic browsing. I tend to do all my game downloads at night while I sleep but if I'm doing it during the day then I'll just use my phone for youtube or netflix. I still have an old unlimited data plan it that I have no intention of ever giving up.

Converted to USD it would be 13.80$ a month.

I can do whatever I want when I download.
My ISP is really great, none of that "up to" bullcrap - Instead, I'm getting a guaranteed minimum speed of 50 Mb/s up and down. Usually, during the busy hours (say 6-8pm) I'll have around 70-100 Mb/s, but during the night when few people is on it have been as high as a Gb/s.
Best of all, my ISP is non-profit and it only cost around 8 euros a month.

*whistles* Damn, dude, that is a sweet deal! Is that normal for your area?
Thats pretty much the norm these days, unless you happen to live in a small city or a more remote area.
