Pure curiosity here. I heard one person talk about spending $20 on a ticket like it was a common thing. The theatre I usually go to costs $4-6 depending on the time of day I see the movie. The more expensive theatres in the area are $10.

Follow up: Do you feel like you get a good value on average?

Well here it costs £6 to see a normal movie (which is roughly $10), then a couple quid extra for 3D or premium seats.

Well.... the nicer theatre with stadium seating and such is ten bucks a pop. As for the value? Depends on the movie itself too much to say in a general sense. The theatre's nice, I guess, but that movie better be pretty damn nice too...

My local cinema? Free! Because I work there.

The others can get quite expensive. It goes up to £14.50 to see a 3D IMAX film in the best seats.

About $10.

Less before noon.

I'd still feel ripped off, even if I got a ticket for $1. Netflix has spoiled me...

Certain ones cost $5 with a coupon, but it is about $8.50 before 4:00. Sadly there is a monopoly as far as movie theaters go in my city so that ticket price has been going up steadily for the passed few months.

I pay about 6 Euros, that should be like 8 Dollar. 3D is more expensive. If the films worth it, great. But its a little to expensive to just go to a random movie just because you feel like it.

It's around 5 dollars for a matinee and 10 dollars for a movie here. I think it was 12 dollars for a 3d movie the last time I went. So prices may have gone up it's been a while since I saw a movie.

$8.50 for me, $5 on mondays, and $12 for 3-d. Then the candy is like $4 so I always get my own from somewhere else.

I saw Tron: Legacy in 3D at around, I think 6, so past their afternoon prices, and it was $10 dollars a ticket. So that's not bad.

Normally it's about $7-$8 for an evening show, about 6 bucks for an afternoon show.

Netflix does that. Whenever they really expand their library, I'm going to be lost to the world for days.

About $9 for regular cinema, $12-15 for 3D. Prices rise annually around here, or so it seems.

I have to admit, it's hard for me to justify a family trip to the movies when the price tag, including drinks and snacks, is almost double what it would cost to buy he Blu-ray and screen it in the comfort of my living room.

My local cinema is around $5, which is great, but it can only show one movie and it's never in 3D.

I saw Tron: Legacy in 3D, and that was around $12.

I love my local theatre, its family owned so tickets are cheap ($6 for regular, $4 during the day) and they seriously the most awesome popcorn.
