Well Escapist, how gory do you like your games?!

Do you prefer tons and tons of blood? Or do you prefer practicly none at all? Or do you prefer a relistic amount? Tell us!

Me? I prefer it slightly more then what´s realistic. It gives you that extra feeling of satisfaction, you know?

Depends on the game and my mood. I adore the neigh-cartoony splatter gore in Left 4 Dead 2 and Darksiders, but I'm also totally cool with the almost gore-less-ness of, say, Bad Company 2.

In some games it fits really well and can totally make it more fun, or more intens or frightening (note: I don't advertise splatter-gore here, I mean something like cutting off your own pinky in Heavy Rain *shudder*) in others it'd be out of place.

It doesn't bother me one way or the other. I am neither satisfied by gore nor repulsed by it.
So I can't really answer the question, "how much I prefer", since gore makes no difference to me.

Well, if it's for comical effect then I'm okay with excessive gore, but there's only so much I can take before feeling a little nauseous.

Depends. When playing a game like God of War I want gore all over the place. That's the whole point of the game. On the other hand, when playing a game like Metal Gear Solid, having blood all over the place kind of defeats the purpose...

Blood spurts are usually enough to satisfy me in games.

Flying limbs are a nice extra sometimes. Anything more is fluff and I don't really notice it.

However, the Cerebral bore was like crack back in Turok 2.

It kinda depends on the game.

Gore tends to look stupidly unrealistic, especially in video-games, so unless it's played for laughs or for specific style I tend to prefer none at all.

Usually I prefer realistic, except in games like Painkiller and other fun-shooters. Then it's: more gore = more laughing.

It's not something I specifically hope for, but when an explosion at point-blank range just kinda makes the enemy fall over, it comes across as strange to me.

ALSO, it makes games centered around melee combat less satisfying when your blade just seems to make the enemy feel worse about themselves when you hit them.

Depends on the game. I think having the "Blood spatters" in Dragon Age was more than a little silly, but the enemies exploding in a blood fountain doesn't exactly bug me at all. I don't exactly expect gratuitous gore in your average CoD style FPSs but if they added more, it wouldn't be inappropriate or out of place like it would be in say a fantasy game.

It depends on the game I'm playing.

Bulletstorm?! Bring on the rain of blood and chunks of flesh!
"Realistic" FPS?! Please, the human body does not contain 120 liters of blood and no, a hit from an assault rifle will not tear off limbs.

If a game is just aimed a delivering adult bullshit fun, then blood and gore is awesome. It adds to the humor, it adds to the fun.
But as soon as a game strives to be taken as even slightly realistic or seriously, then the developers better make sure that the enemies don't explode in a reddish mist as soon as I shoot their foot.
