This is a poll about sleep.

I find that I don't need a lot of sleep, but everyone keeps telling me to sleep more, it gets very tirersom.

But how much sleep to you need?

Need? About 5 hours, and I'll be fine the next day.

Want? About 6 hours. No real reason, but 6 hours seems about right for me.

I can pretty much survive on 2 hours sleep if I need to. I don't really sleep that much and I sleep pretty late too.

I need about 7 hours to barely function. However, I will never feel fully rested unless I sleep for at least 10 to 12 hours. I used to believe the bullshit they wrote on the internet about needing only 7 hours of sleep. Nowadays, I learned listening to the internet is a bad idea.

I can't seem to sleep past ten hours but I can survive on about four for a couple of weeks or two for a few days. That's normally if I'm camping or somewhere unfamiliar though.

I need around 7 hours or so.

Any less then that, I have to take a small nap or I'll just spend the day feeling...well, sleepy.

Usually around 6-8 hours personally, however I have a friend who works a 12-16 hour a day landscaping job (hard outdoor work, usually year round doing snow removal in the winter) and he maxes at about 3 or 4 hours a night.

I need a ton of sleep to function well in a day. About... 10 hours, sometimes even 11 or 12, makes me feel good in the morning. Which really sucks because I can't, usually, fall asleep before 11:00 PM, and I need to get up early to go to school... Or, at least, I WILL need to, when it starts for me.

I've gone 72 hours without sleep (not my longest, but it's up there), and then went to sleep for around 4 hours. I woke up feeling great. The weird thing is if I try to do the same after only staying up for a normal day's time (around 15-18 hours), I feel like shit.

Sleep is useless to me.
A symptom of ME/CFS is that sleep is not restful. You wake up just as tired as you were when you went to bed.
Sometimes more so, because now everything you did the day before has had a chance to catch up.

Add this in with my frequent and debilitating bouts of insomnia and it becomes a fucking miracle I retain cognative thought.

Going by a "normal amount" being the average of 8 hours, I need 5 or 6 to function as well as I'd like.

8 hours... that's healthy for an adult. I prefer to get nine, though.
Actually nine hours is the the standard amount of sleep for a teenager/ young adult, however I know of only a few people who manage that and they're still tired most of the time.

I have differing amounts of sleep. I can't force myself to go to bed before midnight, so If I need to get up at five (frequently this is the case) I get only between five and four hours of sleep. So i over-compensate on my days off and sleep well into the afternoon if I can. I don't know about 'healthy', I just know it's working.

Having a school day requiring getting up at 6AM, and often having me working until 10PM, my sleep does tend to suffer...

On a school night I can get 6-7 hours, but because I get up so early it feels like less. Holidays I get about 8 or 9, although I have had up to 11 recently :D
