The following example is not an example of me playing an "old" game to extreme extents, but it has the general idea in it:

So anyway, finding myself sick of Bioshock 2 (I couldn't even complete it one hundred percent (which is usually the case with most games)) I found myself for a time sick of all video games. Even the mere thought of video games sickened me. However, recently I have rethought this notion and took out an older game to play. I basically went from Bioshock 2 to Dark Cloud 2. Now I know that Dark Cloud 2 isn't exactly an "old game" persay however, it is not exactly the newest either.

Basically, I would like to know whether or not you ever go from a new game to an old-ish game sometimes. To elaborate further, what games do you usually have the tendency to go back to most times. What games do you find yourself picking it up more than once and saying "I would like to play this again"?

Not much...Unless its downloadable, like on Steam, the Wii shop, XBLA, PSN.

Otherwise, I really won't play them...Except for Legend of Mana. I try and play that bi-yearly.

I don't know, but when I go back to older games, it's mostly because of Pokemon.

My PC can't run shit, so I play old classics like Deus Ex and BG2. Reckon they're like... a billion times better than most of the stuff they put out today.

Sometimes, I'll feel the bizarre urge to pull out the old Playstation to give a random game a spin, but that's about it.

NEVER. Once I get tired with a game, I sell it. Bioshock 2, Aliens vs Predator, and Gears of War 2 are close to this threshold.

I play older games pretty frequently (mostly due to the fact that I couldn't afford any of the latest generation consoles until this past Christmas), and even now that I have a PS3 I still go back to my old PS2/1 and Gamecube titles all the time. I even play an N64 game every now and then, when I'm feeling particularly nostalgic.

I go back to older games every year, mostly my SNES or N64, occasionally my PSX, and I still consider my ps2 an active part of my gaming library.

it quite simple when I run out of budget or there's just alot of shovelware junk and nthing to buy its back to old games. Down to 1 new game per yearly quarater, so sick of lack of at home multiplayer (yah theres online, miss 2 player mode still), ust how many FPS can I own, sick of DRM, sick of 4 hrs of game for $60 to $80, sick of companies trying to milk more cash, sick producers trying to deem the lifespan of my game. so yah go back to old games quite often.

Every now and then I'll go back to something like Mario and replay it.

And sometimes I still play Tetris on my phone when I am siting around waiting for someone in the parking lot. Or Space Invaders.

I have my SNES, my PS2, my Xbox and my 360 all plugged in pernamently.

As the times have gone by I have looked backwards in time for new gaming experiences more and more.
