I'm talking about books, just in case you didn't realize.
I'm just wondering how often you guys read, me, personally, I read a book a week, if I can get my hand on one.

I have a list of history and economics books I need to go through, sitting on my desk. They are staring at me, taunting me to read them. Nearly half of them are in English, and some are so goddamned old I think I discovered a new breed of English long forgotten by modern man.

I read them whenever i get the time and I usually sit with a notebook scribbling stuff down. However the books are bloody heavy, so I usually switch over to some lighter local stuff (mostly thrillers).

Rarely (last time I read one was Jam by Yatzee last winter). I'm not as invested toward books as I used to be when I was a kid (Harry Potter, Goosebumps and others).
Granted the next books I want to read next is the Guild Wars 2 books once the third one is out this summer (so I can buy all three at once).

I rarely read books, but the last book I read was something about nutritional facts of food. I was just curious to know what kind of foods have which vitamins. I never read books for enjoyment purposes though.

Every day, since I'm on the internet. :p

As for actual books, not very often. Once I start one, I have a very bad tendency to not put it down 'til I'm done. So, I can burn a good portion of my day and not get anything done.

I used to read a book every three days, but since Uni started up it's become a lot more erratic. During terms time it can be as little as a book every couple of weeks and then when I go on holiday it wouldn't be unnormal to read a book per day. For example I was struggling with a book for weeks and weeks and then I went on a three day holiday with my family and read three books

It depends,
I alternate between playing video games, watching movies/TV, reading comics and reading novels. Too much media for me to focus on just one. I'll go long periods without reading a book, or sometimes I'll read three or more in a month.

I usually have a book on the go, even if it's only a few pages before bed. But I read a good amount. Not as much as I should, and not as much as I used to when I was a school librarian and read books I ordered all the time. Now that I'm in charge of serials at this job, I read a lot of magazines. New Yorker, Bloomberg Businessweek, Macleans, etc. Not many novels, though. Again, usually just a bit before bed and it's usually one I've read before. I'm one of those people who rereads books all the time.

Captcha: Mea culpa ... so I guess I'm being guilted into reading more by a computer?

For the last few months at least, I've read almost every single day.

History books for my degree take up most of the reading time, but I am slowly progressing through the Song of Ice and Fire books, and some other shorter novels when I fancy a break from digesting knowledge about 16th-17th Century Europe.

It is rare that I read entire books for uni. It's more likely to be a few chapters of a book that are relevant to whatever I'm working on at the time.

I wonder...why does it have to be books? Why can't you read other things a lot instead? Scientific articles, forum roleplays, random information I'm curious about, etc. I read those kinds of things. I don't really read books any more. Though that's not because I'm such a tech freak. Something about reading a paper book just...doesn't sit well with me. So I read everything BUT paper books really.

In regards to actual books, never.

I know book smarts are apparently the best kind of smarts, but I simply have more than enough other things to occupy myself with. And one of the worst things is forcing yourself to read something, just so you can say you have, eventhough you'd rather be doing something else.

I read every night before bed, so depending on how tired I am and how long the book is, I can get through a couple a week, or just one in a month.

If it's something I need to read for Uni, however, it'll take me a day or two at most.

I'm pretty much reading constantly these days.

I read every day, usually more than an hour and sometimes way more than that. I adore books and couldn't live without them.

At the moment, for instance, I'm reading:
- The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out Of The Window And Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson - Fantastic novel, really funny.
- Something Happened by Joseph Heller - Hilariously biting and satirical so far.
- Dodger by Terry Pratchett - Ol' fashioned Pratchett quality so far.
- The Path of Daggers by Robert Jordan - Another good Wheel of Time book.
- The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli - An interesting read so far.

Yes all at the same time.

I try to read at least one or two books every month. On average that's about 15-20 books every year. Not fanfiction, not magazines, not blogs, not comics, not movie tie-ins, not fantasy bestsellers. Actual literature.

Well... that depends on what you mean by 'get anything done'... economically productive? Maybe not... but for your own entertainment, probably plenty (depending on the book, of course).

And yet I'm a voracious reader. I read news, opinion, commentary, and informative articles on the Internet constantly. I'm always mildly annoyed by people who think that doesn't count as reading. It strikes me as a form of snobbery.
Likewise... though I tend to read a lot of non-fiction books & reference texts, mostly for shits... which really seems to baffle a lot of people I know...

Hmmm... next, read Anti-Machievel by Friedrich Hohenzollern... but I don't know if it's been published in English/Dutch...

EDIT: oh, my bad, yes it has been... but not as extensively as I'd hoped...

OT: Yes... a lot... I typically read manga before I go to sleep, one novel while at work, another novel or non-fiction book while commuting back from work, and then I'll have something for weekend reading as well.

At the moment, it's the following:

Manga - Kieli
At work - Fear to Tread - James Swallow (Horus Heresy)
From work - Shadow of a Dark Queen - Raymond E Feist
Weekend... thing - Rifles (Chronicle of the 95th Rifles regiment)

I carry a book with me where ever I go, be it work, school, or on a trip. Well, maybe several books on a trip. I tend to always be reading something.

I read a lot.

At the moment I'm about half way through a book on Marcus Aurelius because that book has been sitting on my shelf for a long time and I wanted to read something that wasn't fiction. I was on a fiction binge for a long time and I wanted to go to something else before I got sick of it.

I have a lot of books that I need to start reading since every time I go to the bookstore I always buy a lot and more than I really should get since it takes me a while to get through them.

I think I have a problem. :/

I try to read at least 50 pages a day.. I just finished It by Stephen King and now I'm reading through Contemplating God or Богомислие in my language by a local Father and I'm also halfway through a collection of Lovecraft's stories called Necronomicon.
