I was a very avid reader back when I lived in Queens (was close to a library with a large selection, and had nothing else to do), but upon moving to Brooklyn, I started reading a lot less due to the library being under renovation, and losing a lot of my books due to the move (also more access to games). Since the library reopened, I've been reading more, but not much since that library doesn't have much of a selection.

As for actual books, not very often. Once I start one, I have a very bad tendency to not put it down 'til I'm done. So, I can burn a good portion of my day and not get anything done.
Well... that depends on what you mean by 'get anything done'... economically productive? Maybe not... but for your own entertainment, probably plenty (depending on the book, of course).

And yet I'm a voracious reader. I read news, opinion, commentary, and informative articles on the Internet constantly. I'm always mildly annoyed by people who think that doesn't count as reading. It strikes me as a form of snobbery.
Likewise... though I tend to read a lot of non-fiction books & reference texts, mostly for shits... which really seems to baffle a lot of people I know...

- The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli - An interesting read so far.
Hmmm... next, read Anti-Machievel by Friedrich Hohenzollern... but I don't know if it's been published in English/Dutch...

EDIT: oh, my bad, yes it has been... but not as extensively as I'd hoped...

OT: Yes... a lot... I typically read manga before I go to sleep, one novel while at work, another novel or non-fiction book while commuting back from work, and then I'll have something for weekend reading as well.

At the moment, it's the following:

Manga - Kieli
At work - Fear to Tread - James Swallow (Horus Heresy)
From work - Shadow of a Dark Queen - Raymond E Feist
Weekend... thing - Rifles (Chronicle of the 95th Rifles regiment)
More along the lines of things needing to be done around the home on a day to day basis. Putting them off isn't really an option, and when I do it just gets worse. I also don't have very much free time in one sitting, usually just in short intervals through out the day.

Haven't you heard?! Books are for Neeerds!

But really, last time I red a book, I was in High School and that was quite a while ago.
However, reading as in 'really' reading, I read everyday. Blame the Internet.

Something about reading a paper book just...doesn't sit well with me.
I'm not having a dig, but out of sheer curiosity, may I ask why?

I read every single day, usually finishing at least a book a week. At the moment I am reading Prague fatale by Philip Kerr, and I am thinking of reading The yard by Alex Grecian, followed by an old favourite, Cancer Ward by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.

I read quite a lot for my course - I am doing an English degree after all, so it necessitates a fair amount of reading. I don't really get to read for pleasure as much anymore, but I still do manage to cram some time aside most weeks for it. I've been an avid reader all my life, and as I've got older it's slowed down because of more stuff taking up my time, which is a shame, although if there is one plus to doing an English degree it's that its opened up a lot more stuff to me than I would've thought I'd ever be reading.

If I knew that I might be able to fix it. I used to read books. Horror stories for kids, adventure books, LOTR, etc. But around age...13~14 or so that just stopped. I love some of the stories in books but I just can't get myself to read them for more than a few pages before I want to stop. I don't know what it is really. =/

Taking World History, I do a lot of textbook work, so I guess I read a fair amount from there. I've also been working on Things Fall Apart for English, so there's that.

Outside of schoolwork, I read a bit. I always have a book in my backpack for when there's nothing else to do. I do wish I read more outside of classes, though. I've got a lot of books I want to get around to, but other stuff keeps getting in the way.

Assuming textbooks count quite a bit, school tend to do that.
If not, I don't read a book a weak, but I try to read one every other week or so. As a good rule of thumb I try to read half an hour to an hour every night before I go to bed.

I read every day. I try to get through at least one hundred pages of whatever book I'm reading each day. I'm reading The Wheel of Time right now (I'm just a bit over 300 pages into the last book), so I've had to maintain that pace and then some to get through it in a reasonable amount of time. My love of fantasy series kind of necessitates that pace at the very least.

I've just finished reading 9 books in four days.

And not thin ones either. They're about 600~ pages each. I can read about 100 pages in an hour.

Sometimes I think I read too fast. I need to make another stop at the bookstore already...

Alot altogether. I'm currently reading a bunch of WH40k and battletech game books, and my awesome hardcover tome, The Campaigns of Napoleon.

I'm just like this guy here. It's slowed down to my ridiculous amount of nitpicking that I have, and the fact that my library doesn't have the best selection that I'd like.

As long as you mean fiction or literature (as in, not textbooks), almost never.

I freaking love nonfiction and I'm sad to see many people decry it as "not true reading". This may be another reason I don't read as much as I used to, lack of good nonfiction books in my area...

I think I read a fair bit, at least more than most people I know. In fact, I posted a first impressions thread on a lovecraft book not too long ago, and not many people seemed to agree with me.

But whatever, yea, lots of books.

As often as I have books that I'm interested in. I just finished Mogworld about a week ago and went straight into Jam, both of course by Yahtzee. Before that was The Hobbit which took me forever because to me the writing was just kind of dry and there were parts of it that I had to force myself to read, at one point I avoided reading it for a couple of weeks for some reason. I'm not sure what's next after that, I've got a bunch of books that I picked up when the Borders store here closed a few years ago that I haven't touched since I brought them home so....

I generally have 3 books at once that I'm reading. One "easy" fiction read, like Jam or Mogworld for example. Something that is fun to read, probably funny, and doesn't really require a lot of brain power. One "Hard" fiction, like Game of Thrones. Where I have to constantly remember who is where and what's all going on between multiple arcs. Finally one "Hard" Non-fiction, physics or science based factual book about our universe.

with so much media saturation combined with reading for school its really hard to sit down and read a book nowadays. when i do i usually just audiobook, which really helps process info quickly and efficiently in the hustle and bustle of contemporary life. Audiobookins A Storm of Swords, A Feast of Crows, and A Dance with Dragons on the way to class on broadway and when just sitting in my dorm doing other stuff saved so much time and was super fun.
