Not sure if you'd call this "ignoring," but I'll usually skim the arguments on a thread, and decide "meh, I'm not really interested." Either I don't think I have anything new to being to the table, or the topic doesn't truly interest me, or the thread is just filled with the same dull arguments (though you'd think these people really believed they were being original). A lot of the time, I figure the tiny amount of happiness gained from winning the argument isn't worth the effort and sometimes frustration.

But if you go around arguing for the sake of arguing on an internet forum (which is probably frequented by a significant number of middle school and high school students), I imagine you'll have to ignore a lot of people.

There used to be quite a crowd of people repeating the tired "evil organized religion" nonsense. Nothing to do with those sorts but walk away, to be honest.
Fortunately, they seem to have dissipated somewhat. Or perhaps my avoidance of the remarkably one-sided "religion & politics" forum is keeping them out of sight, out of mind.

On other subjects, however, I'm often more than happy to jump in, even against people with very strange opinions. (One person recently seemed convinced that TOR had sold only 75k copies on Origin, despite EA's "40%" numbers)

Generally 2 to three times a night. In the end I just close the tab not because I care that my opinion may be controversial enough to warrant a warn, but because I know others will spell it out in smaller, bite sized chunks instead of me having to do anything. That, or I'm just not wanting to get into another argument.

On the forum of the student's council of our university, there is one person who frequently abuses the forum for pushing his anti-constitutional agenda and calls for people to join in illegal activities like damaging (important) railways to stop transports he doesn't like.
Furthermore, he consistently posts rubbish replies that clearly show he neither actually reads the posts he's replying to, nor actually knows more about the subject matter than anyone who heard the name of the topic while passing by a radio.

Sadly, that person is the forum administrator, and as such can not be (technically) ignored.

The Escapist is OK so far, though. "soft-ignore" (just not reacting to their posts) is more than enough here, in the rare instances ignore-worthy posts happen.

Don't think you're allowed double accounts, dude.
OT:Whenever somebody posts something really fucking stupid. Generally it's this [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view] person, but I don't really feel the need to use the ignore button.
