Poll: How old are you and why do you play video games?

I'm doing a study for my class and I'm researching how old people are who play games at least 3 times a week. Please post your age and a comment of why you play.

I'm 14 years old and I play games mostly because it's entertaining and I found more intelligent and equal minded people on the internet.

I have different reasons for playing different types of games.

1. I play a First Person Shooter when I am angry or tense, and need to blow off some steam.
2. I play RPGs because I love good stories, and most RPGs have great stories to enjoy.

so, to sum it up for a poll...

I play games to unwind and relax.

I can post why I play video games, but not my age.
it's better for everyone that way. less craniums exploding that way.
Well, I suppose I play them, because parts of this world bore me.
I grow weary of this game, so I play a different one on a console, or PC.

I'm 17 and I play to entertain myself when I have nothing to do or relieve stress. Speaking of which I might get in trouble fo not having this done already. XP

I play games for distraction and relaxation. My amount of playtime vary quite a lot though. I hadn't played any games for nearly 2 weeks and last friday I got started again and played for 16+ hours in 2 days.

I play shooters because I'm good at them.
I play RTS games because I suck at them, but still have fun.
I play RPGs because there's usually a good story to be found.
I play fighting games because I want to get better at them.
I play racing games because crashing my car looks good.

i do it because it is just something i enjoy. I took a break in the PS1 era, just because the games at the time didn't interest me, but i have really been enjoying my 360.

I'm 21 and I play video games to chillout after work and just forget about everything that's happening for a few hours, or to have a laugh and a giggle with my friends if we have the same day off. That reminds me, I'm due for stoners guitar hero shortly...

I'm 17 and I play to unwind and to have fun. Nothing beats having a hard day at school with a game of Fallout 3.

I play games for different reasons too: fighting games mostly, since they help me work the stress off (surprise, college isn't as easy as I thought); every now and then, I pick up an old RPG I've already played before because I liked the story and I don't mind going through it again for funsies.

Although currently not regularly playing on a console at the moment (at uni) i play, quite simply, for the fun of it. I enjoy the interactive aspect of gaming and the fact that you as a gamer can influence events in a fictional world, unlike other forms of media like book's or film's where you spectate.
