19, and I play games for amusement and entertainment. Customisation, stories, visuals and so forth come after whether a game is fun or not.

Early twenties, because I find it to be a release from the idoits I work with and stress. (And stress of course) Also like to roleplay online because it gives me an opportunity to act out the characters I create and be pretty much anything I wish. I suppose it gives me ideas for writing aswell.

I'm 12 and I'll be 13 on the 13th. My reason for playing video games is that of pure escapism, I think that would be the only real reason for playing games or watcing movies and T.V. or reading.

16 - Boredom mostly. I find it's a good way to keep me entertained. I'm not that much of an athlete, musician, or artist so none of those activities take up much of my time, however, I do like to learn random little skills in their places (ex, I can solve Rubik's Cubes quite quickly).

Edit: Oh, and I almost never watch TV. If I am, it's always on in the background, such as when I'm on the Escapist.

I am 15 years old.

I have been playing video games ever since I was a little child. They are a major part of my life. I play them because I love them. I play any type of game as long as its fun, doesn't matter if its an old game like Berserk on the Vectrex or Arkanoid on the NES or a brand new game like Fallout 3 or Street Fighter 4.

Sometimes when I play games, I do it unwind from my stressful life.

I love everything about games: the design, the graphics, the originality, the music, the gameplay, the story, even the console I play with. In conclusion you can pretty much say I will play games until I die.

.....so did that help you for your shcool work?

I'm 19 going on 11 and I play games as most people watch TV or see movies - entertainment. Occasionally there is a social element.

Do you know how it feels to be the only person that types full sentences, hell, full PHRASES?
Seconded. I wonder why it's only video gamers that do that.
Maybe we're the only people who've ever heard the old saying "It's better to remain silent and be thought of as a moron, than to open your mouth and prove it."

Back on topic: I'm 21, I game because at the young age of five I realized I had a hell of a temper, and it's nice to be able to have something to vent on without legal repercussions... That, and they're just too damn fun.

I'm 21. I play when I want to immerse myself in something more interesting than my everyday life (which is also why I watch movies and read books).

I'm 52. Jeezus you guys and ladies are young. I play games because my kids do and I want to understand what the fuck they are talking about. But I suck at it so, in principle, I'm just biting myself in the ass. Yours in crime, Flopmuffin

I'm 28. I play games because it's a form of entertainment I've enjoyed for about 20 years. I dislike movies and TV, so my time is filled with games instead, both video and in other forms.

I am 20 years old, I play video games to fill in any free time I have and sometimes just so I don't have to do anything else.

I have been playing video games (on the PC) for about 15 years and haven't been able to bring myself to stop... Which did bring an end any potentially long-term relationships I had.

I still consider it time well spent.
