Poll: How old are you?

I'm interested in the average age of the Escapist reader, particularly in this forum. Some, if not most, of the comments made seem so racist, sexist, homophobic and generally intolerant that they would make a lot more sense if they were being posted by children. I'd like to find out therefore if people are actually physically immature or just mentally so.

I have always hated the stereotype that just because a person is young doesn't mean he has to be racist, sexist or homophobic etc. Just because your young doesn't mean that you have bad values. Generaly younger people will follow values imposed by older people who are scared of different values. I think today's youth culture is a lot more tolerant than the fifty-something daily mail reader.

I can't help but feel you're thinking of somewhere else. The moderation of this site is fantastic, and prevents such problems, although they are few and far between considering this appears to be one of the few forums where the majority of users seem to be wholely diverse.

On topic, I'm 16 years old and find it extremely offensive that you presume that all intolerant behaviour comes from youth. If fact, that suggestion is incredibly intolerant in itself.

Furthermore, how many times is this thread going to be started, or do you have an intolerance to the search button as well as young people?

Tell you what... you post a picture of your psychology diploma and the parameters of your study about mental maturity on internet forums, and I won't need to tell you that your time would be better spent practicing the perfect dismount off your high horse.

I'm 16, I joined when I was 14 and by simply looking at my posts (please don't, just take my word for it) you can see how much of a difference 2 years really can make.
I'm actually quite surprised I wasn't banned a few months after I joined, guess I was lucky.

I stayed in this forum because it didn't seem to be overly immature.
