It's stupid and meaningless to think about that. That's not to sound smart, it's just self-evident. Even when you're smart doesn't mean you're always right, or when you're stupid that you don't have to think anymore. Also depends on topic and day(time), whom I've met, what I've done...

It depends on what I'm doing. I can think critically with words and concepts, I have a little more difficulty doing abstract thinking quantitatively. That is, I'm better at logic and philosophy and creative problem solving, than Deductive Math and related things.

i am of average intelligence, not a genius at math or science or whatever but i can be hard worker is i want to. on the other hand i am rather smart in that i make the right decisions at the right time and it is very easy for me to grasp the basics of whatever i try, on the other hand it's hard for me to get beyond those basics unless i want to.

I've spent the last twelve years of my life being pushed into accelerated academic programs and told that I'm of above average intelligence. By that logic, I'm above average. How smart do I think I am?

Not very. I make a lot of stupid choices and I'm pretty lazy, which in itself is a bad choice. I always have felt that I was far inferior to the other "gifted" students around me, but it never really bugged me. Society would peg me as "above average", I think, but I would go lower at around slightly or just plain average.
This, but replace 'last twelve years of my life being pushed into accelerated academic programs' with 'last ten years of my life being pushed into special people classes, and then pushed into accelerated academic programs in a new school'

Look up "the above average effect" on wikipedia or whatever. This is an extremely common phenomenon seen more often in western societies.

Scoring 139 on Mensa's IQ test, I'd say I'm above average, but I'm not some kind of genious. To me there's a lot more to intelligence than numbers and patterns, like critical thinking and eductation. I love finding people more intelligent than me, because it allows me to have conversations with a more abstract chain of thought that may be lost on other people.

Depends: Book-wise/Fact-wise I'd say I'm definitely above average. However if we were going by social smarts or street smarts I wouldn't hesitate to call myself an idiot.

I like to skirt the issue entirely and simply think of myself as being particularly clever. Smart? Maybe. I like to learn new information and skills and tend to do well in school, when I bother trying.

Clever however just says that my brain works quickly, which it does, and I'm good with that.

From a recent IQ/Personality/Reasoning etc. test I just did for school (it is official)

My results vs. Every other person my age in Australia.

Verbal Reasoning - Top 1%
Maths - Top 15%
Verbal + Maths average - Top 4%
Abstract Reasoning (Pattern detection) - Top 10%
Speed and Accuracy (At looking at and then memorising stuff) - Top 3%
Mechanical Reasoning (Gears and stuff) - Top 60%, pretty poor
Spacial Relations (3D shapes) - Top 20%
Spelling - Top 5%
Grammar - Top 35%....which was very odd

So...all round probably higher than average? I don't know.

I recently read an article saying that a very large majority of people think they have above average intelligence. Obviously, it's impossible for everyone to be above average, and it seems people aren't as smart as they like to think they are.
The second sentence isn't related to the first. Obviously it's possible for the majority to have above average intelligence. As an example, say one person has an IQ of 50, and two have an IQ of 110. The mean average is 90, thus the majority are `above average intelligence'.

I took more than my share of AP classes in high school, didn't do homework when I didn't want to, and graduated with a 3.6. Hell, Honors Biology I, we had a paper every six weeks that was 10% of our grade, which I never did. I always had above an 85 in that class.

I never studied for the ACT, and stayed up til past midnight playing Halo the night before. I got a 32 on it.

I think I'm a bit above average.

I've marked myself above average based on the documented evidence on my test results while at school and after, and the fact that whenever I join a new social group I get branded "The Smart One" within half hour or so.

I think it's the other way around. It's just others who aren't as dumb as we think they are.

How smart do you think you are? You can be as modest or arrogant as you like. Honestly, I think I'm above average, if only because I'm around the top percentile in my class.
Being in the top percentage in the class is only valid if all students put equal or similar effort into studying. Some people are smart but they just don't study (perhaps because they're not interested in what school has to offer for them or sth) and get bad grades.

Intelligence is quite more complex than most of us think. There are different aspects of intelligence. For example, top class athletes have Body intelligence (the name may be different, I read about it 5 or more years ago so I may have some semantic deficiency :) They learn the correct ways of movement in sports faster than others.
Some people have amazing charisma, can hypnotize others with their personality, even use others for their own purposes, without the others even realizing it.
These are different forms of intelligence. Many people just look at intelligence as the ability to solve logical problems and acquiring knowledge. It's more than that.
If you get good grades in school or can pick a computer apart and put it back together with zero problem but at the same time you're a wimp with no stamina who couldn't kick a football to save his life and you have the charm of an anemic person on morphine then you're academically smart but a physical and social dumbass.

I'm sure you can find out more about it just by searching on google so I'll stop here.
DO YOUR OWN DAMN RESEARCH!!! :)

So yeah, take this into account as well when determining how intelligent you are.

I'm in an accelerate class so above average. Maybe even 'way above average' depending on how stupid you think people are.
