Poll: How well dressed do you want your family doctor?

I prefer casual dressed doctors. They are more likely to actually talk about what is going on in your body, while formally dressed doctors (in my experience) will be really technical and assume you don't understand what they are talking about or have no chance of even trying to understand what they are talking about.

Despite several years of biology classes -_-

Me: "Hey doc, my ear hurts. Can you tell me why?"
Doc: "Well you see, the ear is made of an inner ear and an ou-"
Me: "Yeah I know, I learned that in Jr. High"
Doc: "Oh. Well, with this instrument, I cannot see into the inner ear"
Me: "Well that is obvious, the ear drum is in the way"
Doc: "Yes. So I don't know what is wrong with your ear, it could be an infection or it can just be some minor pressure"
Me: "Well thank you for telling me what I already knew..."

^ Except he was more long winded than that, and made it seem like he was talking to a 10 year old that shoves crayons up their nose...

Smart casual. I don't mean the dictionary definition of it, I just mean that they should not have trousers with holes in or anything ridiculous like that. A Doctor in a suit puts me off just as much as a Doctor in scruffy jeans.

Other than that, whatever. As long as its not cosplay we are good to go.

I dunno, having a prostate exam is bad enough but having it done by a guy dressed as pyramid head from Silent Hill would at least be entertaining...

Pretty sure whenever I've been to see my doctor he's wearing scrubs and a lab coat. To be honest it really helps that he uses a nice blend of professional and casual attitude though. It makes me more open and forthcoming if I feel like I'm talking to a friend, but also more reassured if he's also throwing the the occasional professional tidbit.

Once I made an appointment and my usual GP wasn't available. The doctor I got instead was just as nice, but we didn't have that rapport and I felt awkward telling him certain details. The Hell's Angels patch and biker leathers didn't reassure me...

I don't believe in going based on appearances my doctor could be wearing what ever he pleases so long as he takes his job seriously and does the best he can.
