This question is inspired by the recent gender identity topic.

If you woke up tomorrow and found that during the night you had magically been transformed into a fully functional member of the opposite sex, how would you react?

Everyone still remembers who you were but when you tell them what happened they just shrug and say "it happens" and they accept it (part of the magic). Government departments will change your ID for you becuase "it happens", your bank will change your details etc. so there's no problems with your identity being lost, just how you deal with the physical change.

*Edit*
New information added in response to a couple of comments.
With apologies to those who have already voted if this new info causes you to want to change your vote.

Your sexual preference won't change, if you liked girls before, you still do.
You won't be ugly but you won't be gorgeous either. You'll be somewhere on the better than average looking scale of the spectrum.
The magic isn't going to wear off so unless the magical entity that did this to you responds to your initial begging, the only way back is sex reassignment surgery.
Your thought processes will remain the same but you will be at the mercy of your new hormones. So the newly created women are going to be aggressive and irrational once a month, the new men are going to be like that all the time. :)

Ah, so no social problems due to changing? That's nice.

Eh...get on with it, I guess. Hopefully not go mad with body dysmorphia.

And, in b4 "cope by (bizarre perversion) repeatedly".

Transsexual here, so kind of self-explainatory. It would probably alter my plans when it comes to a potential partner. Being able to get pregnant makes guys a lot more viable when it comes to forming a family. Bishies :3

Do you by chance read the webcomic Misfile? That's basically the premise except it's done by an angel from a bureaucratic version of Heaven. It's pretty entertaining.

OT: I'd probably get freaked out for a while, but it'd be interesting on how the world would treat me differently (read: as a woman). Maybe do a TEDtalk on gender dynamics if I play my cards right. I think I'd eventually get used to it with support from pseudo-understanding friends, but I don't think my personality would be drastically different.
[sub][sub][sub]Kind of curious about what a female orgasm feels like though...[/sub][/sub][/sub]

EDIT: Oh god, I forgot about the periods! At least I'll have an excuse to be incredibly bitchy once a month.

Turn me back! My girlfriend isn't a lesbian! D:

I think I could cope. I've always had a sneaking suspicion that I would make a fantastic stereotypical lesbian, what with my love of plaid shirts, quirky haircuts, Dr. Martens and metal.

assuming you keep you sexual preferences intact?
nothing would change.. i like girls .. if i become a girl i still like girls....

only difference would be a minor lifestyle change.

Probably spend the first few days seeing how things work as a woman both physically and mentally. After that, I'd either be alright with this sudden, drastic change in my life or panic right the fuck out and find a way to go back to being a dude.

Spend all morning in the shower, fondling my sexy new boobs.

Just like all girls do.
Pretty much this, I'd explore my new female anatomy then probably kill myself as I don't think I can have functioning balls and a penis again so I cannot reproduce.

Be happy other women will no longer look me up and down and dismiss me and automatically dislike me because of how I look (this goes both ways, if you're unattractive, they dislike you, and if you're attractive, they dislike you). Enjoy the fact that as a man I wouldn't have to justify anything I do or get funny looks when all I want to talk about is games and movies.

Also, no one would ask me why I'm not married yet and automatically assume there's something wrong with me. The same thing for not having kids. Yes... this really happens. Perfect strangers (and worse, people you know) will constantly ask you why you haven't done both and judge you either way.

Also: No periods. Hell yes.

Men-turned-women: Yes, you will really feel like physically tearing open your abdomen and setting fire to your uterus will make you feel better. Also, enjoy all the other things that aren't blood that come out of there.

... Kinda bitter today, aren't I?

I could become the "she" in "that's what she said"! Running around all day saying things like "Wow, this sausage is huge" and "extra special sauce please". Also, this would multiply my cosplay possibilities by a lot. A guy crossplaying is creepy, but with a girl everyone thinks it's awesome and cute.

I'm a simple person with simple plans.

Rather the opposite problem for me. My girlfriend is a lesbian, and I am fairly certainly she wouldn't be too thrilled about the sudden change of anatomy.
Even if she was, I have to say I quite enjoy being in a relationship that is biologically immune to spawning babies; and I've seen the price of rubbers, they are highway robbery. Highway Rubbery. Tee-hee.

On the other hand..

My first reaction would be fucking terrified but after the initial shock off losing my man bits I'd be like "Awesome, always wanted to be a woman anyway!". I already shave my arms and have a high-ish pitched voice, that's like half way there already! Yeah I'd have to adapt to my new lady parts and what they'd change and buy tons of new cloths but what the hell...

Although the 2 minor problems are a) the gal I am in the process of courting may find my new boobs some what of a deal breaker and b) I'm hardly an attractive guy, so I would hope all my features would become more feminine too, otherwise, in the words of Dr. Steinman;

Of course you can reproduce! You just have to undergo the joys of pregnancy!

OT: Well, I've always been told that I'd be a sexy chick, so probably spend about 3 hours checking myself out in the mirror, and then do my normal stuff, except in a more sexy way.

It is interesting, considering how fierce the debate over whether gender is binary or a spectrum was in the other thread, that so far most people are rather 'meh' over the prospect of waking up with different gonads.

As for myself, I'm not sure, it'd probably be very strange and uncomfortable. Also, I'd miss being tall.

hahahaha no way in hell. I've seen how my female friends act when they're pregnant and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
