Poll: How would you react to this?

The most recent addition to the Smite roster is Athena, the Goddess of wisdom. Before she was released, a few people had been annoyed by the high heels she is wearing in the datamined pictures and stream previews. Anyways, Athena is still sticking with the heels, but there's something else. One or two of her jokes has her commenting on the high heels. Now I'm not bothered by this, in fact I think it's amusing and sort of a bold move. Some others aren't. I'm unsure if there has been more flaming or some such since I hadn't been the forums, but some people are PISSED.

So escapists, let's say something like this occurs in a game, how would you react to this?

EDIT: Right, so it's a LoL type of game (sort of) where a female character got high heels. Would've been nice to have that elaborated first and foremost. No, I would not care if this ever happened in a whatever game, high heels are incredibly petty to get worked up over.

Smite is a video game, kinda like League of Legends or Dota 2 but from a 3rd person perspective instead of top down, and the player chooses from a vast array of gods from mythology instead of random people from the lore.

As for the topic at hand I don't really mind, girls wear high heels don't they? And of all things to get up in arms over it's a joke about high heels?

For the uninitiated, Smite is a MOBA. Basically League of Legends but in third person and with the characters all being ancient gods (Norse, Greek, Egyptian, a few Chinese and Hindu.)

It's that game that was causing some Hindus to get their knickers in a twist a while back.

Anyway, regarding Athena:

When it comes to the whole 'female characters in fighting in sexualized costumes' thing, I usually come down firmly on the side of practical designs.

However, Smite is a game with a very lighthearted aesthetic, it's a game that can involve Sun Wokong throwing monkeys at Odin Allfather, so I really can't be bothered working myself up about this.

Also, if this upsets people then where was the outrage about, oh, say, every other fucking female character in the dame game? Apart from Artemis and arguably Arachne, they're all basically wearing bikinis. And Neith wears heels as well.

Besides, I like playing Athena. She's tanky as fuck and highly mobile, the taunt can cause all sorts of shenanigans and her ult is both fun and capable of ruining the enemy's day.

They're angry because it's ridiculously impractical, and one would assume a goddess of wisdom would know better than that.

Personally, I couldn't give a hoot, but I can see why other people are irritated. Sexualising such a strong female mythological figure and making her talk about shoes is pretty frustrating.

When they base an entire game on mythology with gods of various ancient religions you dont expect to respect neither the history nor the original mythology.
Be happy for the extra content and dont nitpick for small details.If everyone would nitpick on several inconsistencies or disrespecting things we wouldnt have movies songs images etc etc.And the mythology is already heavily defiled

Also high-rez isnt the community driven developer that hears much from its playerbase and was lurking on the shadows for a while without major games.
