Basically, imagine the same setup as Fallout 3, without the main quest, just leaving the open world. What would you do in this situation?

Stay in one of the nearby towns with my trusty shotgun. Anyone crosses me and BLAM, they have no head.

I would try to grow some balls. Then I would become a hired assassin. The most badass gun for hire in the Wasteland.

Stay in Megaton, disarm the bomb, help Lucas Smith and everybody in town, blow heads off nearby raiders with my Hunting Rifle.

Totally this. Badass' always survive.

And if they do die, they die in style. (Preferably blowing up part of the world in their last stand.

Gun for hire but have a base somewhere.

Also, lets my inner Magpie syndrome take over, meaning collect anything remotely shiny.

Simple, Scavenger. You'll come out the best kind of people. you'll always have food, because you can hunt. You'll always have supplies, cause you steal. You will always have money, cause you sell. Seems like the best way to live.

Anyone seen the movie 'The Road' well, if there was a Fallout then I guess we would all be fucked, no food, no clean water, cannibals, no substantial way of life, no mass amount of people.

Trust me, I hope there isn't a fallout no matter how cool it seems now it would actually suck in reality, watch 'The Road' if you can, recommended, it just totally diminished my wishes of nuclear fallout.

But if If it did happen? I would find electrical plug, find an Xbox and play Fallout 3 while in a Fallout myself make the comparisons then I will decide if Fallout 3 is simulator or fantasy.

I would probably be a Super Mutant. Mostly because I'm sure the University here is secretly working on some sort of super mutant technology. My proximity to such dastardly doings would inevitably land me solidly in the mutant camp.

I've been stocking up on hunting rifles and super sledge hammers ever since I deduced this.

I would go into the bunker. At least that has some measure of stability and civilization. I know it might be the cowardly option, but hey, I'm no hero!

I would find a firearm as soon as possible, find a better gun and stick with it once I've established myself as a survivor and I can afford to buy ammo or make my own, master my gun, keep explosives in my back pack at all times and try my best to only kill people who can't be reasoned with.

I also wouldn't be quite as afraid of radiation as I am in Fallout 3, seeing as IRL, you can sleep radiation off.

Well, survivable amounts can be slept off, anyway.

IT DOESN'T BUILT UP OVER TIME IF YOU LET YOUR LIVER REMOVE IT, IT'S CALLED A "LIVER" FOR A REASON! CAN YOU HEAR ME, BETHESDA?!

*Cough*

Sorry.

I'd become a wonderer, wondering the wastes looking for scrap or random bits and bobs like coffee mugs!!!
But if that doesn't work out id sit in a town trying to just get by.

I'd probably start a settlement in the largest reasonable complex of buildings with a defensible location, start a security force, get some merchants, start some other facilities, and have it become as close to what Rivet City was in Fallout 3.

I think the best bet for survival would be to settle in a town and make nice with the people, So as to avoid being shot in the face...of course, id still hone my survival/ foraging skills in case shit hits the fan (again), but for the most part I would just lay low and do my best to stay out of the middle of any drama involving Mother Abigail or Randal Flagg.

Dude, that's not true. You can't sleep it off it it mutates your DNA even if you won't die of radiation poisoning. Check out the Chernobyl disaster. That's what real fallout is like. The survivors envy the dead.

The liver bit is funny though. :D

Edit: in regards to OT I'd try to setle down in the largest town I could but probably just get shot in the face.

Thanks.

But I'm pretty sure I have read that your body simply processes the radiation and you can sleep it off, should you get away from a source of radiation without being burnt to death or some such and assuming it hasn't burnt you to death, you can probably wait a week to a month and you'll probably be back to normal.
Assuming it wasn't a nearly fatal does, then you probably would be pretty messed up...

Though, if we didn't process radiation, our sun would've killed us long ago, so I'm pretty sure I'm not talking incorrectly here, I might just not be 100 percent spot on.

Wait, people can't process radiation in Fallout 3, it's all done by medicine and paying doctors to use their magical floating text boxes to heal them... how are they even alive?!

Damn... there is no "Become irradiated and become a superhero/villain" option so I guess I'd stop caring about everything and become a badass gun for hire...
