Only men confident in their sexuality (whether that be hetero-, homo-, or whatever) can have a pink item without shame. Those who fear the pinkness are scared that their manliness will be lost due to a color. Obviously a real man wouldn't fear a color. A real man shouldn't have to worry about his manliness being compromised by such a trivial thing. Pink or not, a man is a man and it will be obvious to all.
And dropping all the "true man" bullshit, there isn't really a reason for "pink" to be considered a "female" color other than the fact that its been considered a female color in society for a long time (without a really good reason other than it's been considered a female color in society for a long time..., you can see where I'm getting at). Don't be ashamed of your pink DS. When people mock you just tell them how much money you saved and then go back to playing your games.

Pink is a color. The fact it is even mentioned means you are reading more into it than what you should be.
Honestly...why does it matter? It's a DS and it plays games, does it really matter what color it is?

Whenever I have something pink (which is pretty rarely) and someone calls me out on it, I either pull the 'you're-insecure' card or the 'i'm-gay' card. Both work pretty well

Nothing wrong with. Its actually a good idea to have one if so you don't mix up your DS with everybody else's. Plus they're usually in stock compared to the other colors.
I had the option to buy a pink or black DS. I bought the pink one, full price, out of my own free will.
