So I know I want a cheap game or two, but the decision of which to buy is actually really getting to me. Normally i'm buying sequels or games I already know alot about, but right now everything on my radar is a new IP to me and usually involves some strange type of gameplay I don't really get a lot of.

Trenched- A Third person shooter/RTS hybrid? Right... heard it was fun though.
Serious Sam 1 and 2- A balls to the wall FPS made by a company I have never heard of with nostory
E.Y.E DC- A FPS/RPG hybrid that looks really deep but is apparently buggy... how buggy/fixed yet?
LA Noir- A detective drama? Right... heard it was fun though. Not sure how it would work.
Metro 2033- A FPS with no multiplayer which uses bullets for ammo but is apparently awesome.
Crackdown 2- Crackdown 1 + zombies, I suppose that might be kind of fun.
Saints row 1 and 2- GTA clones that I never gave a second glance, until I was told they were godly.

So yeah that's a pretty big list of strange games right there, and i'm really not sure which concept I want to crack into. Anyone play any of these games and have any strong opinions towards them?

Bonus Thought: I just heard about Red Orchestra 2, but I have never even heard of that series until now. Is this game going to be a big deal or is it just another second rate FPS game trying to act like a AAA title?

PS: Poll won't edit

Is this PC only? Saints Row 2 is a lot of fun but the PC version is shit from everything I've heard.

Personally I really enjoyed Metro 2033 and would say go with that. One of my favourite shooters from recent years.

And support the indie guys and get E.Y.E. too.

EYE is really good from what I've seen but I cannot comment on the bugs because I don't own it. My friends who have it really enjoy it though, they think it plays sort of like Deus Ex (but came out before DE:HR came out). Either way, Serious Sam 1+2 HD are entertaining if you like mindless killing and such. They're pretty too. BUT only buy Serious Sam: The Second Encounter - it comes with the whole first game's campaign! lol. If you want to play online, there aren't many online though. But you can still get a semi-decent coop game going on at peak hours, or just ask steam friends. But it doesn't have much depth and I've really only spent a few hours with them because I played the originals.

I have SR2 in my Steam library, and I was going to play it until I realised I could only move in 4 diagonal directions. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but thats what I saw. So I decided it was a console port, and in the mood I was in I immediately uninstalled it and never gave it another thought. Yahtzee liked it a lot, but he played it on a console.

Metro 2033 had some of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. people in the dev team, so its got a pretty gnarly atmosphere, but I hear its on the short side with little replay value. That kills it for me.

LA Noire - yeah I know what it is, but I've recently been disappointed by a different (and old) 'detective' adventure game and its not even close to my radar.

I think about the Serious Sams off and on. They look kinda like Painkiller; in the run around shooting everything else on the screen kind of way.

I get no Google hits for a game called E.Y.E. DC, so I have no idea what it might be.

I own Red Orchestra. Its a multiplayer-only WWII sim. The premise is that you need a lot of people to play - like an orchestra. So an armored car needs to have at least 2 people to operate it, etc. Whereas the Battlefield games have one person per tank. I was a little disappointed, but they did put a lot of work into the game.

I get the hate for Crackdown 2, but I kinda dug it... Actually, if you really liked Crackdown 1, you'll get a kick out of Crackdown 2. That's where I stood when I played C2.

Anyway, I advise you to stay away from Noire, it's a very boring game, not because it requires thought, but the concept of the game is dong a JOB. JOBS are what we try to escape when we play games. I work at a SUBWAY and I'm 16 years old and even then I'm bored out of my mind turning people's hands around looking for the smallest little detail.

Metro 2033? It's a game I've also been looking into, but there was always a Dead Rising 2 or a From Dust or a Portal 2 getting in my way from settling down and buying it. I heard it was superb, but I still got Crysis 2 rather than the game... worth it in my opinion.
