I didn't think GTA IV was too bad either, it just became really boring. Same with RDR, after completing it (which was an effort because the missions follow the same formula; talk to someone, ride somewhere, shoot someone, listen to lengthy dialog) there isn't a whole lot to keep you interested.
The online is fun for a few hours and the level up system isn't too bad but its not enough to keep you coming back for more. If your like me and bought it because you love the spaghetti western films and other westerns it wont disappoint and it is a fun game but don't expect to be blown away.

The setting is very different and very pretty as well as not having to take someone out for burgers every 20 minutes but the controls are almost the same and the mission structure is exactly the same. Unless you have a love of Westerns, if you don't like GTA then you won't like RDR.

Yes, yes you will. RDR is SO much better than GTA that it seems like Rockstar was only making the GTA's until they could figure out what wasn't crap so that RDR would be amazing!

I gave GTA IV two separate chances, when it first came out, and again a couple months ago. I got to about the same point in the game before I stopped playing (a LITTLE further the 2nd time).

GTA IV was completely ruined by the cell phone, RDR doesn't have this problem and is a FAR superior game because of it.

I stopped playing Just Cause 2 when I got Red Dead Redemption and while I like them both very much I think as an overall game I like RDR better. With JC2 I enjoy the Chaos more than the missions and have pretty much stopped with the overall mission/story. RDR has a great story and while like most games the missions can get to be the same at times but I think the overall story makes up for that. I finished RDR pretty quickly (I wish it was longer) and have started it again this time not being such a good guy to see if it changes, it is certainly a little more difficult having bounties on my head all the time.

I bought Red Dead Redemption after hearing about how good it was.
Yeah me too really. It doesn't seem anything special, but I havn't done many missions on it.. I get bored and want to go online.
Well seen how it is based on single player your view is going to be pretty narrow.
