Ok, In America, where SOPA, PIPA, ACTA, OPEN, etc, are all going down, there's a little thing called "Church and State are separate", so I got an idea. We deem the Internet a religion, and The Internet Itself a temple of said religion. If they try to make any laws governing it, we point out the First Amendment:

First Amendment
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

They can't touch the internet if this works by some way of crazy logic. although, it would take a miracle to do this, but still. Also, SOPA, PIPA, ACTA, OPEN, all already violate the first amendment anyway, but here in America, the politicians like to be ponces, and we have celebrities that shouldn't even exist, and one of them has a nickname that seems like a shorted version of Snooker Loopy, you know the one. so, all in all, I want to move to Ye Olde Britannia, because the whole country has gone crazy.

The problem with this idea is the first amendment doesn't prevent the state from interfering with religion if that religion was breaking the law. If your temple was holding human sacrifices, then the government would be fully in it's right to come in and arrest all those involved and shut down the temple. Similarly, even if the Internet was a religion, the government would still be allowed to intervene to prevent people pirating for example.

Sorry, but that just isn't even remotely possible. Also, laws do directly affect religions anyways. You couldn't make a 'church' where you murdered people, and then say that since murder is a part of your religion, you're untouchable. It doesn't work like that. Firstly, actually making the case that the internet is a religion is basically impossible, and even if it was to work, U.S piracy law would still affect it, whether you're a religion or not.
