Ahh yes, this wonderful, absolutely bonkers show. They manage to turn the crazy up to 12, and it's glorious for it (seriously, they out-crazy the show about giant robots being powered by FIGHTING SPIRIT). I mean, seriously, what other show uses bystanders (in this case, the one-star students) as rubble and reusable collateral damage? (if you think I'm kidding, I'm really not; any fight in the school sends dozens of these poor bastards flying. They're okay.) The fight scenes are so absolutely over the top that they've achieved stable orbit (though I will admit Ryruko and Satsuki's battle bikinis took a bit of getting used to), the story is insane without being unintelligible, the characters are interesting (in the case of Nui, bloody terrifying; in the case of Mako, hilarious and surprisingly plot-relevant), and the music is top notch (I get shivers every time the "Don't Lose Your Way" horn flare plays). Even the sudden plot twist actually caught me by surprise (I'm not going to spoil what it is, other than there is one). I won't deny that the show won't be for everybody, but I love it.

My favorite character would have to be Ira Gamagori. Between his size-changing antics (dude is already friggin' huge, but at one point he's big enough to grab the sides of a death-match tower like an end table; he's as much a part of the scenery as he is a character), his sense of honor and duty (which can get literally masochistic...), and how flustered he gets when interacting with a goofball like Mako, he's a riot to watch (and serious props to the voice actors who play him, since the majority of his lines are -shouted at the top of his lungs-).

And, well...this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xjx6Az4LTno That laugh-while-plummeting is comedy gold.

Ordinarily I'd say Senketsu, but since he isn't an option in the poll I'll have to go with Nui.

I think the reason why Nui (a.k.a. best girl) is so weird and unsettling is by the way she's animated. I've actually seen things about this before, and how her animation is different from everyone else so she seems out of place. She never really goes through full motions, for example when she's fighting someone it'll always just be her scissorblade arm moving while the rest of her body stays completely still. She also interacts with the giant text on the screen, and will go flying through the air while turning around like a 2-D cardboard cutout of herself. Combine that with her overly cute mannerisms, and it all adds up to a very strange, unsettling character.

OT: I fuckin' loved KLK. As for Gamagoori's size it's very simple, he is the biggest guy in the room no matter how much they have to adjust him to do so.

I thought Kill la Kill was massively overrated when I watched it but that doesn't mean it wasn't pretty entertaining. No complaints about the soundtrack either. Pretty golden. I have an overwhelming bias towards Patrick Seitz so Gamagoori is...probably my favorite out of all the characters. Jakuzure probably comes second.
As good as Seitz is, KlK is one of the few BIG shows where I have to say that you're doing yourself a massive disservice not watching it subbed.

It's a tie between Mako and Gamagoori in my mind. On the one hand, you have a character who's the plucky comic relief guy and when she gets into it, almost everybody goes "WTF is with this chick?!" With Gamagoori you have a drill sergeant character who would probably moonlight in a BDSM club and is taller than any ************ in the immediate area around him. It's hard to CHOOSE!

Didn't watch it for a fair while due to hearing of the fan service. Ended up loving it despite that. Music was great, Mako was hilarious, liked the characters in general and appreciated the over the topness of it all.

Ryuko was my favorite.

As the title stated I just got down watching up to episode 17 of Kill la Kill. I got into the series by first catching episode 12 on Toonami and being utterly confused and thrilled at the insanity on the tube that I hurriedly went to find the rest off the English dub. I do not regret this. Now that I have caught up to my recorded episodes I felt the need to gush so please forgive me for the incoming Nonsensical ranting.

Bloody 'ell I love all these characters and the voice acting my god I am in love with this dub! Everyone is so bloody hammy it is PERFECT! I want Ira Gamagori's oh so intimidating voice! Satskui is amazing in her arrogance and skill! I am confused and bemused by Mako's antics. Why do I find Jakuzure's voice so damn attractive? And why oh why do I love Kaneo Takarada so much that jive turkey. Don't have much to say on our heroine as well I love her to bits. Oh and why oh why am I finding Nui Harime so ****ing terrifyin'?

*Coughs embarrassed* Thank y'all for allowing me to vent like that. So now that that is out of the way i am wondering what y'all think of my new favorite anime oh and your favorite character in the show.
(As fitting the show I added a bit of ham to the forum^_^)
I'm actually in a very similar situation. I just started watching Kill la Kill and am even on episode 17. What got me to watch it and what I think might be one of the reasons she's so terrifying is her theme. I saw a video of it on youtube, with her picture on it, and had to know the context of that amazing song that just screams madness, overwhelming power, and the resulting chaotic arrogant mess that go with the two. Have you actually listened to it?

As for favorite character, Mako all day everyday. God damn, I wish they'd kept the fight club uniform though. That thing was so awesome :D

Nui's my favorite. She's honestly one of my favorite villains. Every time she's on-screen I get gitty, and I love the way she's animated differently from the rest of the cast.

Second is probably Satsuki, followed by Mako.

I'll be honest here. I did not expect that Mako would get even near so many votes in the poll let alone end up wiping away the competition. About to start up on watching the next four episodes so I'll catch up on the forum again once I finish. But first time to go re-watch Kaneo Takarada's scenes. I don't know what it is about that Jive Turkey but this American loves him.
