I enjoy putting it on the bread , then whacking that cheese on top. Then your cheese on toast, becomes a Branston Pizza. And it is ruddy lovely.Sexual Harassment Panda said:Branston pickle with cheese is bloody lovely. If you make cheese on toast, try including some.
I'd say somewhere between sweet and sour, but closer to sweet. It's chunkier than Heinz relish and a little sharper, which puts a lot of people off. It's OK when washed down with a cup of tea.Imperioratorex Caprae said:(Snip).
Boooooo! Branston goes with a strong English Cheddar!Barbas said:I find that American cheese is best for this. Much like beer, they have some miraculous way of making it taste absolutely dire, which helps take away some of the Branston's power. It's sort of like how being kicked in both shins is more enjoyable than being kicked in just one.
EDIT: Maybe wash it down with some Bud Light...or a Diet Irn Bru. Tasty.
Be careful what you say about American cheese. Imp's from Wisconsin and might shank for implying they have bad cheese.Barbas said:I find that American cheese is best for this. Much like beer, they have some miraculous way of making it taste absolutely dire.
As a Canadian I certainly grew up with HP sauce (although weirdly ours tastes rather different than the UK's...), and while I love it I can see how someone might not care for it or Branston pickle. Blood pudding I would just assume to be out of the question for most American taste buds.SonOfVoorhees said:Being English, Branston Pickle is always in my fridge. Its great for sandwiches and salad.
When i went to the USA to meet a friend and her kids i brought Branston Pickle, Blood Pudding, Brown Sauce, crumpets and Battenberg Cake. They hated all of them. Though they liked the Kinder Eggs as they were banned in USA - and German. Guess they liked German goods and not English goods.
Come on, who wouldnt love chocolate with a toy surprise.![]()
