Yes. You are entirely alone in liking one of the most popular video game franchises of all time.

I personally have always found it as boring as billy-o, despite my friends being nuts about it. I just can't find anything especially compelling in it.

The first one was pretty good, disliked the second, and the third was, with all the hype disregarded, pretty alright as well.

Never tried ODST.
ODST is fun, and is even better for a Firefly fan.
Aye, I hear Nathan Fillion does a great job playing Buck.

I'll hopefully get to it one day.

Halo's a fine series. I honestly wouldn't know all the history, since I started on 3, but I liked 3 enough to go all out on it. Legendary campaign, Recon armor, all that optional stuff.

combat evolved was fun. after that, not so much....

but, as michael jackson said, "you are not alone"
I dunno if a Jackson quote is all too reassuring. :D

OT: I've tried a little of each Halo and I dislike the games to a point where I'll play them to appease the people around me who want me to play, but I'll never buy them myself or anything. Mostly, I hate console FPS games. Dual-Analog controls piss the hell outta me.

Loved the 1st Halo.

Hated the 2nd Halo, both in single player and multiplayer.

Liked the multiplayer in the 3rd.

Loved ODST!

Like Wars so far, but get distracted from it easily.

Enjoying the beta of Reach currently.

I read the books and like the games, but wouldn't consider myself a fanboy... the games are fun as hell to play with friends on or off Live, and the books are pretty damn good.

I wouldn't say i'm a huge fan of the games. I like them but not love them.

But i do love the art direction they take. It just looks good.

I'm a halo fan, but I'm a rational fan. From what I've seen, we're a rare breed online. We don't want to face the unreasonable anti-Halo masses, but don't want to be lumped in the same group as the hardcore, blind fans.

But I do read the books, because I love the universe.

I liked Halo the most out of the series. Halo 2 was alright, never got to play a lot of Halo 3.

Only played the first 3 games but read the books as well, I want to get a 360 so I can play Reach and ODST as well. Basically I really like the games and nothing beats local multiplayer with a few friends, 4 xboxs, some pizza, and a ton of mountain dew!

Halo is fairly popular amongst the Escapists who have opinions that weren't given to them by Yahtzee. We just don't talk about it cause it tends to result in flame wars from the Valve Fanboys.

RAAARARRARARARGH HALO IS GAY RARARARARRAARAAAAGH
Sorry, couldn't help it.

OT , I enjoyed the first one on the pc, halo 3 was alright, ODST is paying off with the Reach beta (jetpacks!), and halo wars just sucked.

I actually followed Halo 1 for about 2 years during it's development cycle, back when it was going to be a Macintosh exclusive. I watched it morph from an open world, 3rd person strategical shooter (you could go anywhere on the Halo, there was even wildlife and such) that was aiming at 40v40 online multiplayer games, to an xbox exclusive FPS. They completely changed everything about the game and that made me sad.

Yet still I've played Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3, ODST, and even tried out the Halo Reach beta. And I have to say that imo the series is overwhelmingly mediocre. Amusing for a time but not at all worth the hype. Also, Halo ODST was incrediboring

while your not alone, i dislike the games, partly cause its an FPS an most cause you couldn't GIVE me an xbox or 360 ( yes i've played the first 2 at a friends :p )

though legends was oddly entertaining, enough that i'd watch it again, actually
o.0? weird huh

the Halo 2 multiplayer is the most fun I ever had in gaming while at college and living on campus. It's so much fun to have twenty people on a map and shouting curses at each other up and down the halls. Good times.
