Baking isn't my forte, though I'm decent at cooking. My speciality is a bolognaise sauce with curry paste mixed in. Tastes fine, but it's repetitive enough that you will would prefer to WoW grind than eat it after a few mouthfuls.

EDIT: And I'm a god at making pancakes.

I may also have made a mess. Now, whilst I'm waiting for it to cool so I can see if it's any good (EDIT: It's pretty good):
Anyone else here bake? Any good at it? And if you happen to be in the north-east of england, will you make me a cake and/or cookies?
I'm no expert, but I'm pretty good in the Kitchen. Cakes and Pastries are my favourite, but I also love to make (and eat) Lasagne.

I live in the North-East. I'd bake you a cake, but I don't know how to deliver cakes. They wouldn't fit through the letterbox. Unless I made a layer cake and shipped it in layers with assembly instructions and a set of allen keys.

Yep. Pretty damn good too, I can do a mean Victoria Sponge, Gateau and Banana Loaf from memory. That's what happens when you spend your summer penniless, unemployed and having all your friends out the country.

Yup, I love baking. I make an absolutely delicious cheesecake, and have some good cupcake and cookie recipes, too.

I don't bake as much as I used to, though. I have to use gluten-free flour (my husband can't handle wheat), which can be hard to work with, depending on what you're doing.

I have a recipe for shortbread that swaps honey for the normal sugar that I'm dying to try. I've only tried shortbread once before, and it didn't come out well, so hopefully this will go better.

I'm sort've impressed that only one person said the cake is a lie joke :)
There have been at least 3 other portal references, and the space core from portal 2 now seems to be the cake core. If you can count on the internet for one thing, and one thing alone, it's that portal references follow any mention of baked goods.

Just like the internet to trick me into believing it's changed :(

How do you get any of those things into a cake?

On the plus side, the cake is awesome and gooey. On the less plus side, every single slice kinda falls apart.
Use a trowel. All your problems will be gone.

I got bored of it...

Maybe if I get a better turret picture I'll use that again but I was starting to feel unimaginative. :(

Option 3. And quite easily - you just pour some into the mixture. Super gooey cake ensues.

Option 1 was what the recipe called for, but I couldn't afford the flights to South America nor the bribes for the customs officials.

A 3rd page? This is officially my most successful thread ever!

I'm a more savoury chef myself, currently experimenting with cooking meats with sliced fruit instead of sliced veg. I like my food tangy.

Sometimes.

I made a Black Forest cake for my mum's birthday and then failed at cupcakes a week later.
Few days after that I made perfect muffins. Few days after THAT made a serviceable Death By Chocolate. Then I fucked up cookies.

I don't even eat this shit why do I bake so much.
...I have to ask. What IS "Death By Chocolate"?

Same boat here, by the way. Cook a lot, don't eat much of it, if any.

I made one of those shitty cakes you buy in the packet once, where you just add water and an egg to the powder in the packet and stick it in the oven. I've never made one from scratch. I don't really care about food. As long as I can eat it without getting the urge to vomit, I'm fine, so I don't see any reason to put effort into it.

There is a lot of chocolate involved.

Basically it is just a sticky chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and chocolate garnish.
Some people also like to pour melted chocolate over it but why the fuck would you do that to yourself mum.

If you are not being fancy with it it should look something like this.

You are supposed to eat it warm and possibly with ice-cream but cake is cake.

what kind of cake was it?as for baking i can pretty much make any kind of baked good(only problem i have use a cookbook as my memory isn't that good)

edit:i'm also quite good at making any kind of candy as well.
Yeah, using recipes is standard for baking - too many quantities to remember otherwise. Any other cooking, I'll use a recipe the first time and make it up as I go along afterwards.
As for what kind of cake:

...That looks a lot like what I made. It tastes awesome (And now there's only one tiny slice left. Breakfast tomorrow, methinks.
