I'm doing good.

Got me as a Dual Wield Backstab Assassin/Bard Rogue. (I have high ass cunning...And Bard buffs are boosted from Cunning!)

Alistair tanking around, dying to save potions. Wynne then rez's him.

And Sten just keeps dying too fast and using my potions. But I keep him in because I like him. He got MUCH better when he got his +12 attack sword back, though.

What are you playing it on? Cus I hear that makes a difference. On the PC I hink you can pause as long as possible making it much easier to strategize. On consoles (I don't know if its out for PS3) you have to rely much more upon the tactics you give each character.

I guess for general tips having a healer is immensly important. I survived the Broodmother by having all my other characters draw aggro and damage from the enemies by sitting in the middle of the room while Morrigan healed and slowly wore down the big *****. I've also survived several fights only due to her ability to heal my guys and by bringing them back to life in some situations.

Also I guess you should probably know how to properly spec people. I know it sounds like easy advice, but I can't stress it enough. I mean I was unable to take on any dragon without having my whole party annihilated in a matter of seconds, probably cus I didn't build my party right. Once you figure out how to properly level you're characters I imagine it gets easier.

So in the end, I guess my two tidbits of advice are: get that healer and spec your characters right. Not the most useful but there they are.

Edit: I love how the poll of "How much do you suck?" doesn't include any options implying suckage. :p

Pretty good I guess since I flew through it. Only got stuck like three or four times. I just fucking HATE the part on redcliffe where you have to go through the secret passage. UGH maybe it's more tolerable if you're a higher level. I haven't been able to play DA:O lately what with my 360 dying

I found that I didn't suck but the companions did, so... being a mage I stacked points into healing rather than damage and now I feel like if I were to play anything other than a healer the groups would fail because the A.I. likes getting killed and the A.I. healers were not strong enough.

Also wtf is with deciding everything? ok for the average person this might be enjoyable but for me it usually involves this:

- La la la playing game
- "I know I'm a blood mage but I need you to forgive me, will you?"...wot? o_O what if I do? you'll betray me wont you...
- But if I don't forgive you then will you kill me or will I pass up an option for a powerful comrade?
- *Goes on google and searches* hmm ok well this guy says go for it, but this guy says dont
(2 hours later)
- Phew ok I'll forgive him

That happens at EVERY SINGLE FUCKING CHOICE so then I turn mr xbox off.
To put it bluntly, you're doing it wrong. You aren't supposed to make these choices knowing the consequences. Do you know the consequences of your real life decisions? Can you predict what exactly might happen as a result. No, you're supposed to think about which might be better, or which you'd prefer doing, and then life with the reprocussions. It's Role-Playing after all.

On topic now. I'll just admit it straight up. I found the combat to DA:O to be really dull. I get very bored with games of that style. So, I said fuck it. I cheated. I got gold to max to buy really powerful gear and I duplicated skill books to increase my skills and get multiple powerful spells. Made the game enjoyable for me at least.

I sucked too until i realized i have to be the healbot for the bots and invested in some healing magic even though Wynne was the healer. Horrid class system and combat design. Absolutely horrid. Such a waste for a game whose setting is so awesome.

Turn down difficulty or:

Get 2 mages, a tank, and a lockpicker. You'll want your PC to be either the lockpicker (so you can pass any speech check with ease) or a mage (so you can get a really good build).

Kite enemies from out of their range towards you one by one. This takes advantage of the poor AI and the fact that magic staffs have infinite range. A lot of the time. you can kill the enemy before it gets to you by having two mages firign at once (pause, target a single enemy with both and let loose). If it gets close, have one mage use cone of cold, and get your entire party to attack. Make sure your lockpicker has Coupe de Grace to take advantage of the target's frozen state. At this point, it should be dead. If not, position your lockpick to the back of the target, your tank to draw aggro, and your mages to attack from behind the tank.

For the High Dragon fight, it's easiest to just have one mage run around out of grapple distance and use cone of cold (make sure to dodge the fireballs). On the off chance it freezes, chug some mana or health potions (or you'll just have to chug them when you can). On my first playthrough, all my guys died but Morrigan and I just did this to destroy it. Archdemon was a lot easier for me (just summon armies and stuff).

For party orders, always put drink small health potion at 75% hp for bosses or particularly difficult fights- it's not that important if you're willing to micro-manage everything.

Other tactic is to use this party to drop down Forcefield on your tank (it has to be shale with his aggro buff active, and it has to go in first)and just drop AOEs on your enemies with mages. Make sure your lockpicker doesn't get hit. Or just replace lockpicker with another mage. Less money, but easier combat.

It's very boring, but the mindless filler combat kills me- I can't bring myself to play through it again. I highly suggest easy mode.
