Why do you need a Sniper rifle? Am I going to hear about you on the news sometime?

Neither.

Shooting .50 is a huge waste of money considering how much 10 rounds cost. Buy a Remington 700 its a cheap and accurate bolt action.

Edit: Being someone who takes pride in gun knowledge the term sniper rifle annoys me because most people refer to anything with a scope as a sniper rifle.

You can get a .50 cal in Kansas?

Jesus christ.

Those things are for taking down light armour!

Go with the Bravo. It's cheaper, and NATO rounds are cheap and easy to get. Plus, what on earth could you possibly need an anti-materiel sniper rifle for?
To my knowledge no, unless the law changed the highest a citizen could get is .495, or something close to that.
The M82A1 can come under this, something to do with the rifling of the barrel reducing the calibre to legal size.

Depends on how much you want to spend and what you're using it for. .50 BMG for plinking? Ridiculous. .308 for varmint shooting? Unnecessary.

At over $4/round, I would definitely not consider getting a .50 caliber sniper rifle.

Mid and small-caliber rifles are generally cheap (to buy and shoot), accurate, and fun. Stick with the M700-Pattern rifles and you should be good. If you dig around at pawn shops or gun shows, you can fine classic bolt-action rifles for as little as $90 or less. I got my Mosin Nagant for $75 and an Arisaka Type 99 for $40.

With a .50 I'm betting international news. At least when you go all John malcovich on Mr Obama try and take out a couple of republicans too, you know, even things out.

My question is, why the fuck do you need a high powered sniper? Luckily as a UK Citizen I can ask this question without fear of being shot from 2 miles away. Thank god for the pond.

You want a 'sniper' rifle.

...

I hope to God you don't get one (Or have one already, which you seem to). Civilians own high powered rifles, not sniper rifles. Are they the same thing? Yes. But the wording you use makes me nervous.

What should you get? You should get Enlisted. Ask for sniper school. Enjoy. You can choose your own weapon and ammo is mostly free.

Get Remington 700
If you have decent scope (like nightforce nxs) it's very sharp

Probably if the State of Kansas is ever attacked by these guys:

Either that or taking out the Tin Man.

I don't feel that anyone who seriously uses the term 'sniper rifle' when mentioning buying guns should be allowed to buy guns.

Take your CoD, your Bad Company, and stick with the games. They're a helluva lot safer for you.

both, one for obliterating watermelons and small trees and one for fun plinking. if you had to choose between the two i say bravo, no matter the size its going to be a lot of fun.

I voted for Bravo, cause it's cheaper, but it really depends on what you want. If you're getting one for a more than one time use, then for sure go with Bravo, but if you're getting one for 'only when you need it and then sell it', then go with M82A1.

If you get the .50 cal you can use it as a metaphor for the size of your penis and then make fun of your friends' "handguns" and "sporting rifles".

If you get the 7.62x51mm you can use it for something more practical.

The choice is pretty clear. I'd go with the Barrett.

This is awesome.

Back to topic: Why the hell would you want a sniper rifle? This makes you sound like a mass murderer waiting to happen. I hope any gun store owner you ask for a sniper rifle kicks you out. If you want a gun to shoot targets with just get a .22. Works just as well and its a hell of alot cheaper.

Yeah, I'm going to go with the majority of people here and ask why you feel the need to possess a sniper rifle. I'm not sure I'm entirely comfortable with the idea of normal people owning handguns and shotguns and the like, never mind .50 cal anti-material rifles.
