I think you're actually meaning Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas with Fallout. And as far as I know, there are a bunch of Halo's as well.

I'd recommend Fallout, whichever you're meaning.
I'm not sure what the difference is. Well obviously I know they're different storylines but I don't know which ones better or if I'd have to play both of them to get the meaning of the over all story.
You don't have to play both of them. At least they don't have an intertwined nor a continuous story. I'd say it's more about what kind of an environment you'd prefer. Fallout 3 is a huge wasteland, with a few partially destroyed cities, it's a bit darker, you're somewhat freer to wonder about. Fallout: New Vegas is a desert, with everything very Western, there are casinos, a bit more non-playable-characters, you're a bit more restricted by the surroundings, quests are a bit more easier to find.

So, Fallout 3 = wasteland, Fallout: New Vegas = desert.

don't suggest a first person shooter
You know you just put one on your list right.

Also, Fallout 3.
Yeah halo. But everyone goes on and on and on and on and on (you get the idea) about it, so it's the only FPS I might give a shot.
well, halo is an investment. you have to start with the first one and work your way up. if you have no qualms about playing a decade old game, and find it fun and interesting, go up to the next one and play them all up to 3.

don't dive into 3 from the get go, or else you'll be disappointed and annoyed at all those people who recommended it.

it also helps to read the books.

but if you're not into getting engrossed in a huge series, or it doesn't sound like it's for you, go with fallout new vegas. it's funny, humorous, and large. (bit buggy though)

I don't really like any of these games but I guess Fallout 3 since it's sort of an RPG...<.<

Rome Total War.

If you're posting on this forum, your computer can probably run it.

THATS getting out of the comfort zone.

Since you explicitly stated that you don't like FPS's, then you need to take Fallout 3 and Halo off that list. Fallout 3 is utter shit in third person, and I shouldn't have to tell you that Halo is a FPS.

That just leaves Uncharted 2 and Mafia II, which has an obvious winner: Uncharted.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Fallout New Vegas is a better choice. Because that one has more companions, a better command system, and the ability to gain XP from companion kills, there's less of an emphasis on first person combat, even more than Fallout 3. Also, Fallout New Vegas is a lot more colorful and funny. I liked the story a lot better and they made the dialog trees a lot more streamlined and understandable (the speech checks, especially). As far as glitches go, it's really not as bad as most people say it is. Just save constantly and take into consideration where you save and how you save. If some random weird shit just spawned on your screen and it looks like something that shouldn't have happened, don't save and immediately reload. Fallout 3 was just the same way, so saying that that one has some magical patch that fixes it, is being generous.

The other thing about Fallout 3 is that there's a really long and confusing section of the main quest right at the beginning of the game where you have to navigate zombie-filled sewers to get inside D.C. that's very first person shooter-y / maze-like. Fallout 3 has pretty much no effect on the story in New Vegas and they're pretty much completely different experiences, plot-wise. But yeah, Fallout 3 is a better value right now as far as dollar / hour goes into gameplay. Just know that 2 of the 5 DLCs for Fallout 3 are pretty much boring corridor first person shooters with pretty graphics and new environments.

P.S. And I wouldn't get either game if you don't have a hard drive. Lots of load times, so installation is recommended heartily.

Fallout 3 is one of my all time favourite games, but if you want to expand a little further out of your comfort zone (although it is a first/third person open world rpg, it's still an rpg), then I say Uncharted 2. It's cinematic, it's awesome, it has co-op game modes online and then competitive online modes which all rock. It's a multiplayer game like no other, and you may find you like it even though it's a third person shooter.

Well, since I assume you're trying to get over your phobia of FPS by including Fallout and Halo, I'm gonna go ahead and recommend you pick up the original Halo:Combat Evolved on XBL. I feel like that ought to be a good introduction to the FPS, and I really can't think of a better one.

and FYI, people on this site despise Halo. I guess it's partially because it's just super popular, but people on these forums will just go out of there way to dissuade people from playing any sort of Halo. I say get the original (it's cheap as all hell) AND Fallout 3 (ditto) and just try them out.

Get Fallout: New Vegas, simply because it's the best out of the bunch.

Do not get 3. New Vegas might be buggier, but it's a far superior game, particularly in terms of roleplaying, dialogue and story.

Uncharted 2 is fun. A lot of fun. The set pieces are some of the best I've ever seen in a game, and that train level is fucking glorious. You can't go too far wrong with it.

Get New Vegas first though. (and make sure you download the latest patch.)

borderlands would be a good fps with RPG elements, It could be described as Halo meets WoW, but that's not giving it enough credit.
If you want to stay more to the rpg side, I'd say fallout 3/NV. Bur I really suggest borderlands for a good RPG/FPS hybrid.

Then there's Halo, which for me will always be the king of all console shooters (or maybe untill DNF comes out, we'll see)

Any of the Fallouts if your not playing online but for online and offline I would take Halo.
Lol, there's some kind of clue as to why you chose Fallout out of all the other options... can't quite place my finger on it.

But yeah, basically what he said.

I can suggest a load of none first person shooter RPGs for you, fallout diablo, torchlight, wow, mass effect, elder scrolls. But if you want to get out of your comfort zone (that seams to be RPGs) then try something completely different. Check out independent titles or retro games from the past, There are loads out there and a lot are completely different from any big mainstream games. Games like vvvvv or super meat boy, or go back to games like the original Mario or bionic commando.

But if I had to choose the best from the list...I enjoyed fallout, was fun, I played halo for a short time, and the rest not played so if I was to suggest one of those 2 it would be fallout. It had more content and is definably more or a RPG than halo.

It depends, if you mean Fallout: New Vegas then by god, Fallout: New Vegas!

If you mean Fallout 3 then I suggest you get Uncharted 2. It's awesome. As in, it's really really good.

EDIT: Incidentally, since you have both Uncharted and Halo on your list, does that mean you have a 360 and a PS3 or that you have a PS3 and a PC?

[sub]ANOTHER EDIT:please note that if you try to play the original Halo now you'll probably find it incredibly boring.[/sub]
