I met one of my best friends over Xbox Live, as well as other good friends so I'm fairly open about what information I give. It doesn't really bother me as the only thing I would be worried about is ID fraud (because who wants to stalk an 18 year old guy?), but I don't have a credit card, officially my dad pays for phone bill at least for the next year and when I buy things like Live Gold or Microsoft points I use cash for a pre-paid card at EB.

I have a Facebook, never really use it though. I give out my name and such, I don't really have much info to give away though. Just my name and city is really all I give.

I have several variations on myself at other sites. But where I am myself (like here) I'll give a few bits of info but not enough that you could stalk me or some such weirdness.

I live two lives on the internet. I have my public persona which anyone can access with a quick google search, and which is necessary because being involved in the music industry requires that I live life in the public eye a little. On the other hand when it comes to gaming forums and computer games or any other hobbies on the internet, I always use an alias and often change genders or use non-gender-specific terms for myself, because nobody needs to know who I am. I've also been stalked on the internet before and it's not much fun, so I'm really careful.

People know vague details about me. If they were so inclined, it may be possible to sort out quite a bit of information from the details I've given here over time. For example, I'm certain one could find out where I live. I've mentioned more than once what some of my hobbies and current activities are and that would certainly narrow a search considerably. A bit of cross referencing from this information and one could sort out who I am. It wouldn't be terribly difficulty, but it would be time consuming enough that I'm sure it isn't worth anybodys effort to figure it out. It would take a lot more effot to do something nefarious with this information I'm sure.

Who I am and what I say depends on the conversation.

That probably makes me retarded, but what ever.

The information might not necessarily be true, but I'll give you some in depth detail.

I've developed deep personas, I can respond to the name "Jake", though it is not my name as well as "Ben". Jake is 19 years old and Ben is 16 years old. They are both similar people, but I respond as them differently. I act more as myself when acting as Ben, than when I do as Jake. Sometimes I reveal more information in different areas about Jake, and other areas more about Ben. Ben is mostly on things like Xbox, but sometimes I am Jake on Xbox. The majority of the time I am Jake while playing things like WoW. This has gone to a level where I have revealed my real name, and people believe that my real name is a fake.

My real name is Albert Wesker, I'm a single mom in Brittan in a small farm in the Oaklahoma area, I'm 22 years old and going through med school. Life is tough in the city and it's hard to deal with my parents, they seem to ground me if I even think about playing games. I guess it's to be expected in the when they're religious right?

I generally reveal nothing more than my first name, at most, except for my Facebook page, which has my city, state, and full name. Might have age too... but I don't even reveal my age on this site.
If anyone on the internet asks for any of my personal info, or a picture, I track their computer, stalk them.
[small]they don't get my info...[/small]

I keep enough personal information available to defend the copyright on stuff I publish online. Once you have enough of a dog in the fight, anonymity ceases to be possible.

Plus, when I'm trying to get a writing gig, I need a plausible answer to the question "what have you written?", and the fact that my Civ 3 FAQ comes up as the first result if you Google my name says I must be doing something right.

Anonymity is for kids and criminals (and soi-disant "adults" who act like children---q.v. most of the Internet.)
