The annoying thing is, the world is so incredibly stupid and like to look for every single bit of controversy in any video games. It'd be like, "Guns....school.... must be influenced by Columbine High School massacre, could cause more shootings!" As innocent as the game may be, there will almost certainly be people like that. No disrespect to your idea or the Columbine High School massacre, just the people that look for controversy.

This game has the possibility of being majorly epic.

Too bad we'll never see it.

It would be a pretty short game after the invading nation just bombs the school from afar.

Game over man, game over!
Nah you can cover that with plotline, maybe an important guys son (from the invading forces) is in the school or the reason for the uprising could be that they're doing experiments on the students and the facility is part of the school

This sounds good. I would play it, but it might be better as a downloadable, short game than a full sized $50 one. Although, I don't know where the shooter would come in. Last I checked most schools don't have an abundance of guns, and many high school students aren't proficient in assault weapons you might steal from the soldiers.

if it is done right then it would be very cool. the high school that i am at is small though
mine is big and it has this courtyard in the middle with your standard waist high brick walls so there could be just a straight action segment too that wasn't stealth if it was used as a base for the game. I think most schools have something like that though
Too bad they aren't chest high then it could use Gears of War type game play. :)

Sounds cool but.....A highschool? Highschools have halls and classrooms. Not alot of oportunity for stealth. except mabye in the closet of a classroom. But then it becomes an "Intruder drill" simulualton. Bt a drill is a simulation. I confused myself.

Small town vs. militia. Cool. Make it the whole town and make the highschool an accesible area.

Would the bosses have metal gear-esque powers and names like Insectoid Sniper for a Hall moniter that fight like Speed Buster from No More Heroes. The insectoid part comes from the fact that the hall moniter was nerd about bugs. The lunch lady Could be Tray Play because she wears lunch tray armor and wields giant tongs to grab you and throw you around. You have to kill her in a chase sequence ( like the Shagohod) and make her trip into the boiler. She escapes but loses her armor than you fight her.

If i was you i would rather make the setting of the game at a university instead of a high school the game would be a lot bigger and more open

This seems like a pretty dangerous idea. Not actually dangerous but from the viewpoint of the various people who like to complain about these things all i'd see is an endless stream of complaints about promoting guns in any school setting

What if the new country invaded and took over, and schools were set up to "re-educate" the youth population of America to the invading people's way of life. This would be a pretty good setting for a good game. I think it should be like a cross between Bully, Assassin's Creed, and Grand theft Auto. You're like the "teen rebel" character that starts a group against the school leaders.

What do you think?
could work

A highschool setting for a shooter game? Especially a modern day shooting game? I can't imagine the game developer that would put their hands on it, that just screams "bad influence for kids".

And to be honest, this is one time where I might agree with them. Agreed a Highschool setting might be interesting, but you have to consider the types of people who might put their hands on the game. If you break down the game to the basics, you've got guns + high school + kids dying. That's not quite the formula for success.

The high school idea is very interesting. I for one frequently dream of stealth-shooting in my school. The layouts of most schools are completely suited to stealth gameplay. Include the hardened war veteran turned teacher? ;P

no highschool's complete without at least one teacher that's a verteran.

that's true. although, the close quarters labarynthian setup of most highschool was sort of what I was thinking of when I pictured the game

I'm sorry, one thousand times no.
I only play stealth games if there is thievery and genre savvy fourth wall breaking sequences.

I was thinking of possibly learning how to develop this sort of thing myself so I wouldn't have to pitch ideas to reluctant developers. I don't think location would have much to do with the sort of person dying. I think the people who buy this would be the same people who bought Freedom Fighters or Red Faction

That depends on your definition of stealth. I would say Assassin's Creed, and what I've seen of the new Splinter Cell: Conviction, are definately "stealth" games, but not about not being seen. Stealth can simply be blending in to a crowd, or just being out of the attention of bad people (and isn't that what highschool is all about?).
