personaly, I believe there are other factors involved that weren't considered, and the results of the study are unacceptably biased.

IQ? Not particularly. Personally, I find exclusive use of internet explorer, safari, Windows or Mac OS to be resultant of a disturbing level of ignorance about technical matters... but levels of knowledge and levels of intelligence are very different things.

No of course people using internet explorer arn't on average below everyone else in IQ tests, you have to think what are most people who use IE 6? Not tech savy.

IQ tests give you a score based on both performance and time, so of course doing an online IQ test is going to result in lower scores for those who are not tech savy.

Theres a relationship of the results, but not the one which is semi implied (only those with lower IQ's use IE).

Its not a low IQ its just low computer proficiency... and in rare cases people like it.

i use IE9, and it functions like a web browser should. i can surf the net, and it's stable. why would i want to fix something that's not broken? and why should my intelligence be insulted for acknowledging a functional browser?

They just aren't techy is all. Some us get irked knowing IE is a piece of shit, it's ugly slow and annoying but some people don't care. Doesn't inherently make them less intelligent.

Also IQ means nothing. Seriously, an entirely subjective method of measuring intelligence.

Boom, exactly what I was talking about. If it works then it's fine is a perfectly valid standpoint. It's a free service, if you want something better you can have it if you don't care then you don't care.

*shrug* I think basing someone's intelligence on what internet browser they use is just stupid. I used IE for a long time because my computer was too old and too slow to run anything like Google Chrome. Or, rather, I wasn't going to take the risk of trying to use it and end up just slowing my computer down any more.

Heh. I wish they were all the same, or, I wish Explorer actually followed the internet standards like all the rest of the browsers do. When designing a web page, there are two steps:
Step 1: Build the webpage and make it work.
Step 2: Figure out why it's not working in Explorer and add a bunch of extra unnecessary code to make it work in that browser.

To be fair, they have been getting a little better at the whole standards thing lately, but they're not quite there yet and there's really no good reason for that. It's absolutely infuriating. But beyond that, IE is slow and unstable, compared to Firefox or Chrome or Opera or any of the others. It's been getting better lately at that too, but it's still not nearly as good as the others, and again there's really no good reason for that.

And yeah, IE is default on every Windows computer, because obviously Microsoft wants people to use their own product, no matter how badly it may run. That's the same reason they advertise Microsoft Office, even though Libre Office is better and doesn't cost anything. They just want customers.
