I see no point in switching to an inferior program that does less then IE. This does not make me stupid it makes me practical.
It's the other way around sir, according to the study you'd be stupid to use IE.

OT: I use internet explorer, no problem. My IQ is also above average, so imagine how stupid the rest must be!

I'm so funny.
Go back and reread my post I know exactly what the study says and its a load of shit. When I was in college a lot of the programs and websites we had to use did not support anything other then IE. I used to laugh at how people using firefox and google chrome didnt understand it and would spend the first hour trying to figure that out. Even after the teacher told them.
Whoops, I see it now.

Haha, what a poor fucking advertising campaign. Of course, using the newest explorer there is makes you some sort of bloody genius. I don't use IE, because it's stupid, and slow, and frustrating to use, plus the probability of catching a virus is more likely than in any other explorer out there, and this is proven by the fact that I use Kaspersky AV 2012 and it has sort of like a special setting, especially made for IE, which certainly says something... Why that is, though, I think, is because most people that use IE are usually new to the internets, and therefore more vulnarable than your average PC user. But still, it kind of bugs me the way they've arranged the scores from oldest to newest(or at least to semi-newest), as if to say "if you don't keep up with every bloody explorer that comes out, you're a retard". And that's just stupid. I use Firefox, but since it was one of the first explorer's that officially came-out after IE, despite having released way newer features and updates since the first version, it's still being placed somewhere among the "retard spectrum" of this graph. It's rather offensive...
Also, this doesn't determine anything, what-so-ever. How can your explorer have any effect on your score? Or rather, how does your IQ determine the type of explorer you're using? It's non-sensical, I personally know people, who I may easily label "stupidest idiots in the world", and safely say that my IQ, however little it is (for, to be honest, I know not how little it actually is, since I've never done a legitimate IQ test, but whatever), is bigger then theirs, but they tend to download every new explorer, for reasons concerning vanity obviously, while I just stick with what's practical and familiar. And on a side-note: What the hell is Camino?! I've never even heard of this thing. I mean I know Opera and Safari, I've seen them, although I've never seen anyone actually use them, but anyway... This is just weird.

Internet Explorer is a FANTASTIC tool to download Firefox on.

I thought we all knew IQ tests to evaluate intelligence are stupid
This. I hate when people try to draw connections between the two. The IQ test was originally designed to predict a young child's future academic success (or lack there of) to help accommodate for their potential needs in the classroom. It had nothing to do with intelligence then, it has nothing to do with it now.

I use FireFox personally, but a few programs on certain websites can't be used on that browser. IE isn't great, but at least it works.

Hey. I didn't see my old browser on there, so I have no clue what to think. IE was spread throughout, so I wonder where IE 4 stands. Regardless, I don't think that browser has much impact at all. What I want to see is the variance; that might give a clue as to what is true.

Yes, my computer used to run IE 4. No, it was not my choice; that was the best that could run on it.

I'm sensing severe chrome elitism in this thread... I'm a firefox...
noticed this too

and I'm an Opera
though I also use IE for the rare sites that Opera can't run properly due to Java, mostly online game sites like, say, Robot Unicorn Attack and stuff

Yeah I read this on the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-14370878
I'm glad I got Chrome x).
Actually it's most likely because on new computers, Internet explorer is the default browser, and only the smart people realise they should change to chrome, firefox or opera while the less able/ people who didn't realise there was a difference (like me in the past) stay on IE.
Do the test on safari, I dare you. Anyone wanting to guess the average IQ scores then ;)?

Intelligence and computer ability have nothing to do with each other. You can have a really smart person who is made nervous by computers and would obviously be to afraid to change any settings (let alone change what programs they use) without explicit direction from a computer expert.

My mom is a very smart person who has a doctorate in physics, but she still has allot to learn about computers. It wasn't until she got a brand new laptop with Windows 7 that I was able to convince her to switch to chrome, and now she loves it.

My dad knows computers allot better but he isn't allowed to install unauthorized software on his work laptop, which I believe is true of allot of businesses.
