Poll: If I have to put the toilet seat down after use...

People talk about this issue as if major equality wars have been fought over it, it's a toilet seat.

It depends on who has the majority in said house. Or alternatively, you can just use the toilet and not make an issue over what the default position of the seat is.

If I was pushed, I'd say the toilet seat should be left down because both sexes use it down and it looks tidier.

I've always been amused by this debate. Surely people are quite capable of moving a toilet seat to whatever position is convenient for them without relying on another to prepare it ahead of time.

Personally I take the "take my ball and going home" approach of just putting the cover down entirely if a guest complains. HAHA NOW WE BOTH HAVE TO LIFT IT

The toilet seat is down the majority of the time so it should be put down afterwards.
It's only up for a guy to pee, so it makes more sense for it to be down for the other 75% of them time. >.>

Honestly, who cares. People should use the toilet however they see fit. If the next person needs the seat raised, they should raise it. If the person after that needs it lowered, they can lower it. The only default condition of a toilet should be clean.

I put the seat down mostly because I tend to go #1 and #2 when I go to the bathroom. Also I have horrible aim if I pee standing up, better for me if there is less distance between me and the toilet.

If the toilet seat is up when you go in.......and you plan on sitting down. Your not allowed to put it up until after your done.

Just sit down. I am raised by my mom, and I hardly ever pee with the seat up. I only do that at school, because those seats are filthy. sitting down is easier, and you don't have to worry about your aim either

It's rare to see someone I agree with completely. When I'm at home - sit down. When I'm at a public toilet - stand up. It really is convenient.

If you have to have rules about who does and doesn't I think it should be men put it up women put it down. You take care of your own self.

But I do think that having the seat fully down usually makes the toilet look neater, and it just feels more hygienic to me.

It's the responsibility of both genders to put the lid down when they're done. The toilet looks much nicer that way, plus stink is less likely to escape (not that there should be any, but if you follow a policy of not flushing #1s, this is an advantage).

How about we meet in the middle? Men have to lift the seat for themselves, so the women should agree to lower it for themselves. Personally, I always lower the seat and close the lid, just because of what the mythbusters taught me. I don't want bacteria from the toilet landing on my toothbrush.

Seriously, I check the state of the toilet seat every time I go in there. Even when drunk and/or high, why can't you?

When it's sunny I pee out of my 3rd floor window to mark my territory.

The idea that people don't look before they sit baffles me. If you don't then you deserve whatever you get, whether it's a busted butt, a wet ass, or a nasty spider bite.

I really don't get why women have this problem. It's absolutely ridiculous to me. Is looking really so hard? I look where I'm sitting all the time, regardless of if my pants are around my ankles or not. And if you're waiting so long before you go that you have to go now maybe there are larger problems at work.

Oh, and I say this as a guy that sits down to pee. I don't like peeing while standing, so I don't do it. If I can manage to pull down the seat before I go, so can you.
