Me and boyfriend decided it by who is more fucked-over if the seat is accidentally in the wrong place.
He may pee on the seat, I may break my butt.
So he puts the seat down. He hardly ever remembers but he tries to.
this is something i just dont understand. for some reason, it is always considered the mans duty to put the seat down, because the woman might fall in or some other nonsense.
why cant you just look before you sit? youre walking towards the toilet, anyway, right? just glance at it and you can just think "oh, the seat is up. i better put it down before i sit.", rather than just playing Russian Roulette with your ass.
i dunno about everyone else, but i always put both the seat and the lid down after i use the toilet. i feel like it helps keep some of the... fumes from escaping the toilet and wafting around the bathroom or the rest of the house.
in my opinion, your boyfriend is only obligated to raise the seat before he uses the toilet, so that he doesnt piss all over it. i see no reason for you to not be able to lower it, yourself.
this seriously makes me feel like im just the only person in the world who isnt in a dazed stupor when i go to use the toilet. every time this argument pops up, which it often does, i picture women shambling into the bathroom like a zombie and falling into the toilet because they tried to sit on it without checking to see if the damned seat was down or not.
in all seriousness, i need an explanation. this argument is just so baffling that i feel as though it shouldnt exist.
