Yes.

By the way, Jesus never said gays are bad. Ever. Once. And he often implied that he has an opposite view on them.
Thats why he basically nuked sodom and gorohomah right?
Jesus did that? What translation are you reading?

Anyways, the nuking of Sodom and Gomorrah had more to do with the rapes... and murders... and horrendous blasphemy... and more rapes. And murder-rapes.

I believe I remember reading that the angels where there telling that one guy to leave ( I forgot his name) a bunch of the towns people came up and demand to screw the angels (they looked like people) he offered them his daughters but the people said no thank you we would like to have intercourse with those other men, or something along those lines, I don't believe in this gibberish anyway.

14 pages in, I doubt I'll be the first to say "He'd never win because the flyover vote would find his beliefs weak-kneed and unAmerican."

EDIT: Besides, weren't you paying attention to the last election? Messiahs are bad things now. =P
Yep this is what I was going for too. Assuming this is an American election we're talking about, he'd probably get torn down by Republicans like of Karl Rove and be attacked as a socialist hippy.

Although I don't get why a lot of people are talking as if this would impose a state religion on them. Christianity wasn't really founded until after Jesus' death (or resurection depending on your beliefs).

Depends on his platform, his stance on various issues. Who is he running against? Do I like his/her ideals better?

He may be the "son" of "god" but his political agenda may turn out to be total rubbish. Good deeds and water to wine does not necessarily equal a functional state.

Yeah... they raped and ripped apart Lot's daughters anyways.

If Jesus actually existed, then I'm sure he could win the elections, no matter what.

Y'know, because he's, like, the son of God and has omnipotence and stuff. Totally.

Also, the Bible doesn't teach that gays are bad; it teaches that gay acts are bad.
What 2 consensual adults do in the comfort of their own bedroom should be none of the bible's goddamn business.
In the slightly more eloquent words of the best Prime Minister my country has ever had, "There is no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation."

And, back on topic, no. I may have implied in previous posts that religion isn't (in my opinion) the most rational way to spend one's life. And just because a person is a religious figurehead doesn't make them a good leader.

I don't consider myself a religious guy but if the real Jesus came back with his comparatively tolerant New Testament stance on things, I would really consider it. I would definitely enjoy watching Fox News's crew shit their pants when Jesus doesn't turn out to be a racist homophobic small-government hate-monger-er like they appear to think he would be.

If he figured out how American politics work and didn't lapse into racism/sexism/homophobia of parts of the Bible, then yes, I probably would vote for him (if the constitution were amended to let him run, of course).

Well if he's the son of God then why the fuck does he need to be president? But I guess if he did run then I would vote for him, if only to get on his good side for when the rapturing starts.

If Jesus is back, it would go some way to proving that the Bible was right. And if he's all that he's meant to be, why would you vote for anyone else?

Bear in mind that this is Jesus, who is way cool [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/JesusWasWayCool]

Implying that Jesus is running for president implies that Jesus is in fact, real. Therefore, sure. Even I'd vote for him. What's the worst that could happen?

Jesus doesn't have enough lobbyists to fund his campaign. Plus, he wasn't even born here. I demand to see a birth certificate.
This would be the case...

This country has separation of church and state EXACTLY for this reason, and none other. Our founding fathers were smart as hell and clairvoyant, seeing this eventuality long ago.
Actually you're wrong. The separation of church and state was originally to protect religion from politics, not the other way around.
