No, it's a nice thought, but emulators these days have much more features than a standard SNES. There'd have to be a really great incentive for me to go for it. Not to mention that they are completely portable now.

But you have emulators and whatnot...

I dunno, it seems really pointless.

Well, unless you dont have a pc. Thats the only way it might work.

It wouldt even be good for nintendo.

It wouldt sell at all.

Or well, at least thats what I belive.

Emulators FTW!

yes but only if they make special edition ones with the game it's based on coming free with the system.

I never had a SNES as a kid so having an earthbound themed one would be pretty cool.

The console? No, I've got one of those.

Now extra games/controllers/cords on the other hand...

Seriously, I need to get a group together, talk all the old makers into producing the old systems again, and making a specialty chain that's focused on retro consoles/games.

Yeah, emulators do have more features like save states and whatnot, but playing the games as they were meant to be played on the proper console feels so much better.

I think there would be a good, albeit small market, for the product; whether or not it would make money would depend on how much it cost Nintendo to produce the consoles and cartridges (as I recall the cartridge system was what doubled the price of N64 games as opposed to the Playstation's disc system.) But technology has come a long, long way so they could probably do it for a very low price now.

Hell no, it'd be messy as hell and look like crap on HDTVs. An official emulator for various formats like smartphones and PC + re-released titles? Yes, I might consider purchasing.
I never actually considered this, good point.

A SNES can be emulated on microwaves in this day and age (no I don't emulate, because I have other games to play) so why would I want to buy what is essentially free elsewhere?
Also, I believe ThinkGeek actually does sell them, so yeah.

No because I have a small list of games I actually like on the SNES and I happen to think a large chunk of the games on both systems were more fun on the Genesis/Mega Drive.
That I still have my SNES, and said small handful of games I like. ..Minus Megaman X2, dammit that game is far too expensive.

Hmm... maybe? I'd certainly consider it.

If Publishers and Developers started creating brand new games for old consoles though... I truly don't think I'd be able to stop myself from getting them. Really. New N64 or SNES games would excite me far more than any new console announcement.

I'd rather have VC releases (preferably at a more reasonable price) or collections.

I'd freaking love a Metroid collection.

Gee, I can't think of a reason you wouldn't want to illegally pirate games.

Oi.

I wouldn't.

My 20 year old SNES still works after 20 years. My 4 year old Wii broke down after 4 years.
Even if they did produce new consoles, they wouldn't be the same quality wise.

Capcha: double crossed. How I as a consumer feel about Nintendo

It's not about piracy.
Emulation keeps older games alive and thriving, because their respective systems have long since passed.
Maybe it's just my ignorance talking (hell, it most likely is) but I don't think you can get every SNES game on the Wii or 3DS (I didn't even know that's possible), meaning that downloading elsewhere is the only means of obtaining a particular title.

I probably would, but I suppose it depends what games and how much. I got one of those SNES classic controllers for my Wii so...
