Yeah but that's what I mean, they don't have to look human but they need to have some kind of human-like charaterisitics, some kind of personality that can be conveyed in how they behave, look or emote beyond just 'grah kill'. Like those Gorn up there, I can't really imagine them doing anything other than killing and shooting stuff, they don't really have an attitude beyond that. But again in Halo we see Sangheili have a wide range of emotions and even saw how they behave in non combat scenarios and it was actually kind of interesting.OTOH, that's not to say they shouldn't be people, in some sense.
