Well, when the Americans go back in time, everything turns out ok in the end.
When the soviets do it, we get giant killer Japanese Robots out to kill us. How it works I have no idea.
But if Russia is invading us, the last thing we would want to give them is a time machine.

Okay, to clarify, if this happened just like 'Freedom Fighters', which is a game, and is not real, and will most likely never happen, what would you do?

Knowing that there are more guns in the U.S. than people, they'd more likely just nuke us!

But in the game, they didn't. I'm trying to get people to understand that. And they don't listen.

And they're telling you it wouldn't go down like that anyway. Technology has progressed to a point where we would know if the Soviets would try to invade within a week before it actually happened. We would be ready. Their only chance at a successful direct attack at the U.S. is to nuke us, Dr. Strangelove style.

Even if they did sneak one past us, they wouldn't get farther than Cali.

L.A. would stand a minimal chance, because you'd have a couple of gangs that would be equipped with heavy weapons. Same with most east and west coast states... but the real fight would be when you got to central and southern America, where the kids were brought up in the woods hunting deer. That's how we won the Revolutionary War... just a bunch of farmers kicking ASS.

If America was invaded, most people would fight back. We Americans are big headed and very proud. If our county was invaded by a another power I can guarantee there would be a lot of fighting going on. The problem would be knowing who the enemy was. A lot of people would try and do their best and fight back against the invaders, but then there are always the people who are out for themselves.

Again though this is probably true of any county, I don't think any power can just walk into another established county and not face SOME resistance.

As in, 'Go along with it and not blow things up'. Helping Russia would be activly telling them where the resistance hide.
